What is the difference?  Is it a military style?

There is a post in the parts project section explaining the differences in the windshields over the years. Jim (and I) are looking for a windshield that would have the long slotted adjusters like the MB, and square washers on the front under the heads of the top bow bracket bolts. I'm not sure how many were made like that but they have been difficult to find....

Here's the post I was referring to. Sean has a link or two in his post to his own webpages where there are pictures and charts of what is what. http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/windshields-3-types_topic2807_page2.html

I am looking also for a windshield that would have the long slotted adjusters like the MB, and square washers on the front under the heads of the top bow bracket bolts.  I will proably find hens teeth before I find that windshield.

you guys are right...these are not too common...they can be found with some effort

I would take a later one and convert it if I could start with a pretty solid 46 style

Jim absolutely ....go for it....I don't have any extra cash right now anyway. Been paying for too many tanks of gas and a dumpster on the big cleanout project.

Are these things ship-able anymore?  Very close to max size for USPS,  maybe fastenall?  Greyhound is a 50 mile trip so that is out.

Anyway pics in this folder, #20 ish to 28 ish, White windshield. Also in there a later 2A with repo? skin and a beat up inner frame. Skin is shot,  bottom rail has very deep pitting.  Wrong inner arms,  going to find correct ones tomorrow.

Hi All,
First off, I do not want to step on Adam's toes. My intention is to see this part go to a restoration where it belongs. I bought this through craigslist last year or so ago along with an early grill. I sent one of the sealed beams from the grill to Lowenuf for his restoration. I have no idea how to ship this thing either. It needs a new skin and the inside center bar of the inner windshield is cancerous at the bottom. I'm going camping in Mexico until Tuesday so I'll check back then.
Thanks,
Mark

Wow...these are great....

Adam, yours is early but not early enough for my low number....it has the square washers but the lolipop adjusters.....later transitional type.....

I will try and work with Mark as that is exactly the type i am completely missing...

These can be shipped fedexground easily...its all in the way you package it...DO NOT put them in a bicycle type shipping box..TOO thick

Cut a sheet of corrugated cardbard that will fold in half over the top and get closed along each side and at the cowl gasket area....an envelope if you will....

Then all that is left sticking out are the frame mounting arms....wrap them in shipping tape...a nice thin space saving package....costs much less than the girthy box type...

Luis is only about 45 minutes from me, so I'd like to look at his when I get back there in the Fall....if it is still around then.

Tom, Bill,

I was not clear that what Louis was calling "safari style" was one of the early square washer frames..

So I asked him to send some pics so we could see what he has...

I sent Mark a message, we will see what he says after his trip..

It is interesting/exciting that this post was dormant for a couple months and now three possible square washer frames are being discussed...

I have been reading about your moves Bill...certainly it is a lot of work and a big life change...

what will the final result be?
