i would leave it as is and drive it :)
the engine block isnt the original..... the 5-1 date is from 1946, not 1945, and I would bet the machining date on the pan rail would disclose this... i have engine # CJ-2A 16748, clock block, 10-26....machining date 11-17-46, came out of 1946 #24XXX......... the serial number is also behind the water pump..... serial numbers on the pad behind the oil filter remained until early 1946....... according to my non-official record keeping of 1945's, the earliest engine date casting number found thus far is 6-16 non-clock, from a very early '45 2A....... otherwise, the ebay jeep looks really nice...

This is the Jeep was on Ewillys as being on Craigslist at 1500, then Andys deal fell through because someone supposedly offered 4K, now it shows up on ebay?

Notice that it has the speedometer with white background, black numbers. Anyone know how far up the chain they used these to ? Lowenuf, does your jeep have that type speedometer ?

Yes, Rocnroll. Thanks for the reply Lowenuf. Be interesting to find out how far up the chain willys installed these on the early 2A's. I suspect they were also used on the CJ-2's. You all have a nice weekend.
