This is the first run of my '45gpw.  She was parked over 40 years ago.  Rotted in a pasture in N. California for a very long time.  Every corner and bolt was covered in cow hair as they used it for a scratching post for years.  Tires had sunk 8 inches into the ground.  After a very long resto trying to make every nut and bolt correct and every finish and paint correct to factory fresh this was my first run on the road.  Drove it to the gas station and put 10 gallons in it.  She ran very strong but when I hit 2nd gear she stuck in that gear.  Dang!  Anyway it was great fun to have her on the road.  When I fire it up, I quickly realized I had forgot to connect the lower end of the oil gauge hose!  Oil fountain covering the engine bay!  Hey, at least I had good oil pressure!

Very cool...and a proud moment for you I'm sure!!!  Looking forward to seeing it on the trails next year (?).  Guess you'll call it "Bessie" from all the cow hair...huh?

Well, congratulations, Lew! That's a big moment that's been a long time a-comin'! Looks like you've still a little to do, but it's lookin' good!   Bruce

She gets called Genevieve after my mother.  I restored this jeep for my Dad who was a Life Scout in WWII.  He is a huge WWII historian.  Hope to take him for a ride over the holiday as he will visit then.  He is 86 and that will probably be his last chance to do so.  I would love to try her out at the fall colors tour.

Lew   Don't be too sure that your dad might not be around!  My dad was 92 when he died, and my father-in-law is still here and 96!!
Enjoy with him as long as you can!!  Smile

Got the tranny working fine now. Trouble getting it to idle. Runs very strong so I am sure it is the idle circuit.

Got her running fine now.  The idle jet was gunked up due to the crap gas we have here.  Now she runs perfect.  Had to give my Chevy buddy a hard time.

The voltage regulator needs adjusted as it is kicking 8.4v and not dropping down as the battery charges up.  Guess it's time to get out the book and do all the regulator tuning steps.  Anyway, I took it for a short drive and boy do she have power!  Runs great.  Thanks for all the help!
