I purchased #69376 from John Woods, the original webmaster of this site back in December 2004.
Here is the link to his original and edited write up of what was his jeep at the time. He was very sad to see it go, but I promised him that I would look after it. Here is the first photo that I took of it. Here is another from the back side after I dropped it off at my parents house nearby. You have to love those bias ply Firestones. It had 80,752 miles on it, which I was told were mostly towed miles by the Retired Marine Corps fellow that used it for panning gold before selling it to John. It also came with a pair of doors Soft top bows and hardware. Monarch governor, drive belt, and drawbar hitch pin and a metal drum pulley assembly with guard. |

I drove it for about 3 years and then it started having fuel and electrical issues.
Here is how it sat for about 10 years while my two sons went to college and the wife got her Master's Degree in Mathematics. I found out last year that I needed both hips replaced and in order to qualify had to lose 100 pounds. Well, I lost 110 and had my right hip surgery this past November. This left me with a lot of energy and a new outlook on things. A refresh was in the works.

I have spent the last 12 years trying to find NOS parts as well as rehabbing the functioning parts still on the jeep.

Time to refinish the Corcoran Brown parking lamps and the NACO tail light.
Original headlamp buckets reveal the brown paint that was below the OD. |

The governor was rebuilt.
Here is a shot of the original seat padding. I took all three seat frames to get sandblasted and powder coated. I then replaced the original OD green seat covers with the same from Walck's. I used stainless screws/washers. I tried my hand at rebuilding my vacuum wiper motor. It looks great, but has a slight leak. I'll try it again with a complete kit this time. The hand wiper was next. I had found this replacement blade with drive rivet and it worked great with the original handle/blade. Time to install the Skinner fuel filter that I've been hanging onto for 12 years. Took the drum pulley off to clean things up a bit and check for any leaks. Here is the engine bay completed. Completely new wiring harnesses, 3 of which were made using my originals as a pattern. Parking light, tail light, and switch harnesses. I completed the front brakes a week ago and decided to mount the Huffman Hubs for a laugh. How would/could anyone use these things? Post-War California 1945-1946 only issued rear plates for vehicles. I found this booster plate, which we are allowed to have, from an artist here in San Diego. I like the old school style of it. Here is where I'm at now. I'm waiting for the rear axle bearings to be pressed on and then I can finish the rear brakes and give it a test drive. Jerry (IronAge52) was kind enough to bring over the slide hammer axle remover, that he hand-built, to aid in getting them off. He's only 5 miles away, so now I have someone local to hang out with. Jerry is famous for being in Dave Groh's YouTube video from last year, I believe. Edited by timcj2a - 22 Feb. 2017 at 5:25am |

2x on the weight loss. I knew I was fat and started to loose weight. Last I stood on the scales, around 100 Lbs less than a year before. At least my belly doesn't rub on the Jeep steering wheel anymore. I weigh less than when I played football in Jr High.

Same here John. That was one of the first things I said to the weight loss director, I'll be able to fit behind the wheel of my jeep. It was a great feeling when I actually did it for the first time in years. Congrats on your weight loss as well.

Yeah, I don't have to wear black shirts to drive the Jeep anymore.
Now I have to figure out what to do with my brother. His belly button is now an outey instead of an innie. I'm going to leave it up to his wife. Not really my job. I quit eating white flour and I suppose cutting out the beer had something to do with it. |

Kudos on all fronts
That governor transformations sticks out in my mind as one of the most dramatic refurbs from an earlier post...now to see it in context it makes perfect sense MB

Thanks Mike. It's been fun following your progress on his close cousin, #69750, as well. I had been wanting to do that for a while and decided it was time.

Thanks for sharing. Great looking 2A. Are you completely healed from you operations? Sounds like 2 great restorations for you and your jeep. A question if you don't mind, where did you purchase the manual wiper blade? Jim |

Thanks Jim. I am 3 months post-op from hip #2 and couldn't be better (and I've managed to keep the weight off).
I purchased the wiper blade from eBay about 11-12 years ago. If you saw the packaging, it appears to be government issue. I would look there as often as you can. If I see another, I'll M you. Thanks again, Tim
