Well I am getting back on the project. I have a 46' that isn't perfect. I have no intention to do a full restoration. I do however want to make it a tribute vehicle. I wish to use the M38 soft top and give it a fresh coat of OD green. One of my first dumb questions is the spare tire. On the 2A it's mounted on the rear of the passenger side. I would like to mount it on the rear and have seen it done. So the stupid question is do I just remove the bracket and bolt it to the tailgate? I would also like to mount a Jerry can there as well.

I would look at adding some reinforcement before you mount it like the M38 tailgate had and using an M38 tire mount too.

It's hard to tell from the pic but is that a hat channel used on the back of the tailgate?

Its a full one piece. and the other 2 pieces are a T shaped
