http://www.ebay.com/itm/Willys-military-1946-willys-jeep-rat-rod-street-rod-cruiser-/261746072335?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3cf1481b0f&item=261746072335&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

Is this for real or do you think this seller is joking? There are seven bids on it, is it worth 2000 dollars?

Well....  If he's already got 2 grand bid, it must be worth that much to someone.
Probably wouldn't be worth that to most of us here because "no motor and transmission" and the fact that the suspension is all jacked around makes it mostly a sheet metal donor to us.  Although that custom in-dash radio might put it over the top. Wink

The starting price was $1200.00 I see people asking close to that around here for Willys in worse condition. As to no engine and gear boxes. A lot of people buying Willys have no interest in the Original drive train so I don't see that as weeding out all that many bidders.

I would like to know how he got that radio in the uncut dash. That instrument light should really light that dash up.

uhhh, no way.  I sold one with a decent body (great floors and hat channels), good axles, wheels, and tires, gas tank, seats, WITH the transmition, for $800 and I thought that was pretty fair.

I'd be tempted to buy it just because the body looks to be pretty good. Price does seem high for not having a motor. Somebody will buy it for that much. I would just for the title and drop my motor in it.

lol, probably did - like 35 years ago. And that's probably when it was 'rust-free' too.

I'm trying to dig up proof, but I recently saw a ratty CJ2A that was 'all original' - with a SBC, tilt column, racing seats, and 35" mudders for $20k.  I wouldn't have paid $2000 for, especially considering the SBC.

[update]
Oh well, can't find it now. But I did find these "gems"

'46 CJ2A " (stuff)...lots of rust....(stuff)...First $3500 takes it" <gut busting laughter>

And almost as good, the "  More rare Ford GPW. 1944 Willys Jeep $7500 (Oakridge) "
I love the Ford / Willys conflict in the title, but it makes sense once you find that it's a Ford tub on a Willys frame...

I couldn't resist contacting the seller. The reply has left me puzzled though.

Me:
It's not military and you have visible holes rotting through the floor. Both wildly conflict with your vehicle description. I don't expect you to be an expert but when you claim "no rust" and you can obviously see rusted holes that's frustrating. Hopefully your high bidder sees that too or else you are going to have an awkward conversation with them when they see it in person.

The seller's reply:
Thank you---you are right

I get it! The ebay jeep came factory equipped with a Jeep-a-Troll, which causes everyone that owns it to make wild claims that are clearly incorrect.

The second factory option is the "I can drive over Humvees" lift kit.

It would be only fitting if a nutty bidder happened across the nutty seller's auction and bid $10K.

"Thank you, you're right"   What a goof.

I was just wondering, you ASSume that with the internet now people should know the price on jeeps and stuff.  I remember when I bought mine, at first I thought they were SO RARE that I would never be able to find one, well I was wrong.  I was also lucky to find this website too.
