Hello
I suppose the floor has been change on my CJ2A and the brackets for the insulator are gone!
I have two original brackets for the insulator of the oval muffler.
Question: on the front mount the insulator is attach to the bracket or the a body mount screw like the MB mounting?
Second question: could give me some dimensions (approximately) where these brackets has been welded?
Thanks in advance for your help! Wink

Christophe

PM sent, including photos of how I mounted my VEC exhaust.

There does appear to be a variation between a CJ-2A early exhaust and MB type even though they are very similar, the 2A exhaust seems to sit higher on the front lip of the belly guard and the MB type sits right in the corner of the fold......well it did on my Jeep.

Hello Adrian
Thanks for your help and your pictures...
I found in my archive on my mac this very interesting picture about the bottom of the body of one CJ2A VEC of 1946. Look we can see easily these two brackets welded for the mounting of the muffler.

Hello Adrian
I'm in vacation and I have assembled the MB Exhaust on my CJ2A VEC.
I have welded these two brackets on the body like on my pictures because nobody on this forum take 5 minutes to give me this information... Anyway my muffler and the exhaust pipe was NOS they found immediately the right position and I have welded on the floor and on the channel.
I want to really thank you Adrian and Lowenuf for her help for the mounting of this exhaust on my CL2A VEC!!! THANK YOUWink
My only (problem) I got, it's the sound of this NOS exhaust pipe is noiseless?????Cry

Christophe

It looks good, I drilled through the hat channel and bolted my front bracket in place.

Its another case of my repop body not having all the small brackets etc that it should have.

Its all been a learning curve, if I ever did another early Jeep I'd be aware of the issues.

Feel free to upload the photos I PMed you so the other guys can see how my MB exhaust sat....th emain difference being it is in the corner of the belly guard, so just a bit further away from the bell housing, speedo cable and front drive shaft.
