low, search your entire C drive for files that contain "thecj2apage" in the name and delete them all unless you recognize the file as something other than a cookie. I think that earlier versions of the forum software left cookies or other persisting information in non-standard locations. Those files confuse the current version of the forum software and need to be deleted for the automatic logon and timestamp of your last visit to work properly.

also, as an FYI all, the problem i had in an above post seems to be intermittent at best, but now, i can load the page using IE7, once loaded, open another tab to search further without disturbing the 2A page....come back and click on the 2A page tab, and as soon as i either refresh, or proceed to another page within the 2A site, i have to reload my log-in info...like the site times out, and it will do it to me within 2 minutes...

Dave,
You may have the milk, but ya gotta lay off the cookies! It's those damn cookies that are getting to you. Take a look at what jpet needed to do. You probably have to do the same thing. |

It seems to me that this board stores the login-out and new posts information on the local unit, be it PC or other. My PC here at work does not show the posts as read that I have viewed at home and vice-versa... Also if logged in from work, when at home I have to login again(not a big deal). And the login thing still gets messed up for me. I have been just dealing with it.
I think I need some milk with my cookies!!...

Yup,
I found them.
I think my PC was logging me out every time I closed the page out and because it did, my phone would open up the page logged out.

Try searching for files living in all the folders on your C-drive. I remember finding a few in another folder other than where cookies normally live. I don't recall the name of the folder now, but I did have to delete those files as well. I have no ideas for the iPhone, though, but my guess is still that there is something similar going on with it.
I am assuming that this has been happening consistently since this thread was started. If not, then it's a special feature for jpet. |

Jeff,
My best guess is that you need to delete all thecj2apage cookies, and that, as I found on most computers that I use, the browser facilities for deleting cookies did not get them all. I found that I had to search for and delete all internet files having "thecj2apage" in the file name using the file system explorer. |

low, it has been working for me except when both Firefox and IE each decided I needed updates for their browser. In those cases, I had to delete the cookies one more time and logon again. I don't recall which browser(s) you use. What are they? Let just worry about your home and work computers since there's little control we have over any computers you use temporarily.
BTW, I did not have any luck using the forum facility for deleting its cookies. Low, I did not mean to suggest you were using that since you spoke of deleting all the temporary files. I mentioned it in case lurkers are following the thread. Edited by samcj2a - 03 Aug. 2009 at 7:05pm |

same issues again....
cookies are on........
ALL temp files including cookies have been deleted from all machines.....
"yes" is highlighted regarding the keeping of me logged in....
i login, the no matter the timeframe, i just simply close the browsers as i always have.....open them back up, go to the 2A page, and i have to login again....
not just on my home computers, but ones i am using while away on vacation....
so cleaning the temporary folders, and cookies folders isn't a stable solution....
yea yea i know, just log in and go on......i like easy, i would rather my machine stay logged in on a non-public computer :)........lol

I just noticed that at the bottom of the 'Forum Home' page there is a link for deleting cookies set by this site. That would be the easy way to do it . . . . assuming it works.
