What about it, Russ?

I somewhat agree. However if every thread I've seen in the past couple years with great information like this was made a sticky, the first two pages of this forum would be stickies.
I think the 2A page needs a 'Specs and Tech Tips' section just like the 3-A and 3-B pages, where good info like this can be placed for easy reference.

Thanks for the youtube video, I am about to install a new manifold and riser and now I have no question about how to set up the riser, Thanks a bunch guys!!
Besides YouTube, is there any way to post more videos on the site, it could have tremendous knowledge capabilities. |

No problem for the video . . . glad to hear it helped you! Not the highest quality, but I thought it showed the way the HR works pretty well . . .

Heat Riser, now I get it. Heat it and it rises. Who would of thought it was so simple without the graphic display. Now I will remember. Thank you.

westforkboyd I have your artical on heat riser, I even printed it out. I have new manifold and all parts to install. However when I assemble everthing it still does not work. It seams that the weight does not overcome the spring. I noticed on yours when the weight is at the 2oclock position the spring is not laying on the tab. Is this correct. This is my last item to finish and cant get it right.
Thank You in advance

I think there is a similar feature recently started here: Tech - FAQ If there is something that you think should be there that is not, you may post it as a new thread yourself. Assuming the moderator agrees, it will stick there. Edited by sean - 27 Dec. 2010 at 1:33pm |

Hi FTS
In my photos I was just lifting the counterweight with my fingers to demonstrate the open and closed positions so the spring wan't doing the work. During normal operation as it heats up the spring would be pressing against the tab, winding tighter, lifting the counterweight, and closing the flap. Although it may not seem like it as "flimsy" as the spring feels it does have enough umph to lift the couterweight.
Look closely at the photos. The spring must be assembled so it is wound clockwise to work properly. Are you sure your spring isn't on backwards? It won't function that way. Can you post a closeup photo of your assembly? Myself and others here will certainly help you to get it working as it should.

westforkboyd, I think you are right, the spring wil not overcome the counterweight. I am going over to Military Jeep Parts in Levetown PA on Mondy talk to George about the spring. I will keep you posted.
Thank You
