After installing the tire carrier, I knew my old tow hitch wouldn't work.

Went to Harbor Freight, picked up a 2" receiver, a 12" extension and drop to a 1 1/4 hitch

Had to cut the old bolts off to remove the original hitch and installed the new hitch and extender with Grade 8 Bolts.  Pretty simple.

Just wondering.... would the receiver not fit on top of the rear bumper giving and even better departure angle?

Just wondering, but either way you got a nice rig

Thanks drifted, I tried, if you look in the second picture you can see that it is 1.5" too wide to fit on top and still have the holes match up.

That is the first thing that came to mind when you posted the title tow hitch.
We put one on my buddies ford truck,  FYI for anybody that does not have a harbor freight close, advanced auto sells the same hitch for about $30.00

The extension is a good idea, I have an 5 x 8 enclosed trailer that is a bear to back up because the tongue is too short.  I  am going to have to order one.
