FWIW, the airflow/coolant flows through the rad are much more important than the thermal conductivity of the aluminum versus brass or copper. That said, be sure and run a good quality 50-50 coolant and a good ground to the radiator to minimize the galvanic corrosion between steel/iron in the engine and body and the aluminum.

Here is the one I am currently considering. Its a little shorter and about an inch wider than a factory radiator. I will take some final measurements to check the fit next time I am with my jeep. Any comments/concerns/suggestions? Well I just bit the bullet and bought a replacement from Walck's for $475 and that included shipping.. And came with the shroud.. I had a guy quote me $300 to recore mine but he renigged and now says $430.. So needless to say.. I told him to piss off.. After that bs.. I'd spend twice that to keep from giving him the work!!

For my 43 willys build I bought the smallest summit racing radiator with the chevy outlets because I am running a 4.3, the radiators are made by Nothern in the usa, I have one in my tj and it works great very nice welds and quality. The racing radiators are cross flow two core wich out cool a four core brass. I have not mounted the radiator in the 43's mb grill yet but it should work with a cj2a grill too. |

There was some brief conversation about YJ radiators...
I have a buddy with a great YJ radiator but when we tried it, it was to tall to clear the hood on my 2a. Am I missing something? |

This is the radiator I am using on my cj2a with a 225 v6. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1966-Ford-Mustang/Radiator/_/N-iyn02Z9pdak
It is cheap, has a lifetime warranty, fits very well, and is not aluminum. Oh I can also get it locally and trade it in locally if it starts leaking. For a flat head you will have to have the lower port moved, and most small radiator shops charge about $30 to move one. Now of course that would void the warranty. My experience with autozone is that they would never notice that the port was moved, even if you pointed it out to them. This is also a three core radiator instead of the two core that most of the aluminum racing rads. Remember they are designed for racing AKA going fast. I don't think any one with a flat head would describe their vehicle as going fast. The brass will give you much better heat transfer and more surface area for those slow crawls up the trails. Damar the offer is intriguing. Two questions...
Doesn't the 3a mount to the grill shell instead of being frame mounted and how much would it cost to ship a radiator from Wisconsin to NY? |

You're correct, 3A (and very late 2A) radiators are side mount rather than bottom mount. If you have a later grille it will work (or it could probably be modified to work)

I have the early grill and I'd kinda like to keep it that way even though my Jeep is a mutt at this point. I kinda like its muttiness but I'd rather not modify it too much...at least at this point. That being said a 3a radiator probably could be modified to fit easily.
