it has a round axle - 5 lug 16" rims - and only 4 covered wagon bow recepticles used for the enclosed cargo? 2 on each side.

Not sure what kind it is but it is not a Spen. The stake holders are not the same, the axle is wrong, tailgate, and basic shape of the trailer does not match

It's a cool one what ever it is! Your local DMV might be willing to inspect it, and after finding no numbers or markings, agree to register it as "home/shop built" and apply their own number.

OK ~ I finally had a day open to spend at the DMV. The DMV found a number located on the front left tongue of the frame. The number is: DR949929T
They ran a vehicle history report. The history report states that it is a 1942 Spen...?? right...???

Looks like your trailer is special!
SPCNS and BTM are explained in this doc. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/reg_hdbk_pdf/ch7_miscellaneous_originals.pdf |

ok ~ SPCNS
stands for: Specially Constructed Vehicle Emission Control and BTM: stands for: Body Type model so... what does this mean??? is is re-constructed... or maybe home built/ pieced together? Whatever it is... LOL... rebuild starts today! Edited by RECON-ERN - 27 Mar. 2012 at 7:26pm |

By both your's and Russ' definitions it would be either "home made" or "made from parts" by someone other than the manufacturer of the parts. Could be constructed by a specialty firm from sourced parts. Rhino lining is up to you, I don't like it because it's such a pain to remove if at some future point in time you want to modify or weld something onto the trailer. I've seen the style/type before but I do not know the manuf.
Its not home built or reconstructed, I'll bet it was the easiest to do to get it registered at the time.

I took these rims off yesterday. cleaned them up and painted them.
QUESTION - WHAT ARE THESE WORTH? $$ ?? I have been looking online, and can't find them. No comparison.
