Is it to late for a new guy to sign up? I go on Medical Retirment from Marine Corps sept 17 and am already coming out that way, figure might be fun to experience the willys side of things!

The hat color was determined by a select group of ne'er-do-wells at a secret meeting far far to the north of us here. I guarantee that it will be a noticeable color with boldly contrasting graphics stitched across both front and back. The days are getting shorter and Fall is coming upon us. This morning when the General and I headed to work, it was a little cooler and the sky was quite clear. I put a sweat shirt on like I do in the morning in Colorado and since the sky was so clear, I looked at the stars. It reminded me of night time on Aspen Ridge even though Illinois a less amplified version. Hope we get to spend some time up there. The two weeks before the FCT is always fun for me. The anticipation. The memories of my time in the Rockies and knowing that I'm coming back to them. Jeeps are just so insignificant really. <sigh> It's just hard to concentrate on anything else.

Jeff, it's called God's Country. Many ancient societys considered they were as close to the great spirit as they could get up high. Some even buried their dead up there. Some have their ashes spread there. The air up there is special too! See you in 2.5 weeks! John

I know what you mean about these last 2 weeks even though it will be my first time. Most of my thought are about getting everything ready for the trip. I said to my buddy chuck ( he is coming with me ) " how fortunate we are to be able to experience this". From mikes wonderful offer to hold the event, stay at the thirsty dirt ranch and have the time and money " big bird, chuck and I look forward to seeing everyone.

My wife and I drove to visit our son today, 3 hours away . . . after she commented on the long drive, I mentioned that our trip to Colorado next year will be almost 10 times as long! haha
I am trying to prep her for my "bucket list" trip in 2015 to the Fall Colors Tour. To everyone who is excited about 2014 tour . . I am SO jealous !!! See you next year. |

I am in St Louis this week. Had dinner with Ken Bushdieker, moderator of the 3b bulliton board last night. He has me set up with a trail kit box to haul all my loot. I will be bringing a fuel pump, spare set of radiator hoses, belt, set of king pin bearings, u-joint, set of Spring hangers, dual resvor master cylinder, carter sd 932 rebuild kit, tire plug kit, trail compressor Golf clubs and Mark! He is a fit trim guy who will be usefull for tire exchanges and helping me drive the 1100 miles home Saturday night and Sunday! That being said. If you need anything picked up in Houston, Wichta, Kansas City or Denver. Let me know, I am not taking a direct fought up. Have a 18' trailer with a lonely CJ-3b. Not bringing the Bantum trailer this year, unless somebody wants to buy it :)
