I bought a 1946 CJ2A. My question is: Is there anyway to adjust the steering column to give the driver more room?

The short answer is that the steering column is not adjustable. You can get a little more room behind the wheel by (in order of ease of implementation):
1. Installing a slimmer rear cushion for the driver's seat. 2. Moving the driver's seat back by notching the rear wheel housing. You can search the forum for ideas on that technique. 3. Some have pursued making or buying a smaller diameter steering wheel. |

You also forgot #4 There is also the option of liposuction for those of us that suffer from SWGS (Steering Wheel Gut Syndrome). |

Check out this thread from the Want to Buy forum.
A smaller production steering wheel has been found.
