So I picked up a new '47 2a on Sunday. Brought it home, cleaned out the carb, changed out the oil and filter, dumped a bit of gas in it and fired it up.
Well I couldn't control myself, driving her around was so much fun I ended up filling the gas tank, driving around last night for a few hours.
It was awesome! I got back home, pulled betty in the garage, And went to sleep. Dreaming about my little bundle of joy.
Well I got home from work tonight, and my house smelled like gas. I went out to the garage, and sure enough my tank was weeping gas through the bottom onto the floor pan and down the frame rails. I drained the tank (had about 8 gallons in it) and pulled the tank. Needless to say I immediatly placed an order with Kaiser willys

My serial number is 106519
There is no frame tag. The two on the firewall match.
from what I can tell the motor is original.

I like it, fix the fuel problems, throw on a coat of clear to preserve the patina and drive it like you stole it.

Got home from work, ups had made the delivery,
so I installed the new fuel tank. Had an issue with the screws for the sending unit. The new tank was tapped different threads then my old tank.
Thanks to help from sam, I got the right screws, mounted everything up. Added a fuel filter and filled her up.
checked for leaks and went for a ride. Everything is awesome!
Can't wait till tomorrow, 65 and sunny. Im going jeepin!

Is Betty a legit Princeton Black Willys? My understanding is that they're pretty rare. She's a beauty.

Nicely done!

Thanks, as far as I can tell black is her original color.
I don't see any other colors and she is worn to metal in multiple spots.

Isn't it great to find a new friend. You just bonded with it and liked it. ( Betty)  Now all you have to do is enjoy the fun of trail driving a Jeep. A great past time and you'll get the thumbs up for sure! Congratulations! John
