If like my 2.5 the 4.0 pump carries the Viscous clutch and fan then it has worked hard for 67k miles.

It does....and you're probably right about that but you'd think that would be kinda engineered into it.

My local parts shop says they won't even stock new pumps because of the trouble they have concerning the Chinese castings.......so looks like a USA rebuilt one (factory casting and NSK bearing) is $40.

My Mopar pump lasted 15K. The Bosch replacement is the way I went... (via Rock Auto)

I'll try that one next time.....getting ready to install this afternoon later.

Thanks for the heads up though.....sounds like its like everything else these days good ones and bad ones and you can't count on anybody any more.
