While snuffling around the forum I read a post somewhere that recommended a hand pump, that NAPA sold, for refilling the tranny and T/C. It fits a standard bottle and the filler end of the hose clips into the fill hole on the tranny and T/C. I bought one and it worked great. Still somewhat messy (when changing bottles or when cleaning it up afterwards) but a big big improvement over what I used before so, thank you whoever you are!

By chance can you post two pictures one of the package with name on it, and maybe one of the pump. I read that same post yesterday, and currently need one. I ran down to Napa today to purchase. They had no idea what I was looking for. Thanks.

Not my photo but it looks like this. There should also be a couple of smaller plastic tubes to extend the suction end included in the package.
Hah, found it on the Napa site: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Barrel-Pump-Fluid-Oil-Pump/_/R-SLRSL4344_0006414318 Larry Edited by rocketeer - 29 Aug. 2014 at 3:03am |

Yeah, everybody else calls it a bottle pump but not NAPA, they gotta call it a barrel pump.

I have one and love it but have yet to find a good way to clean them. I think I've bought three of those pumps now as it seems easier to start with a fresh one than to try and deal with a slimy gritty old one.

What do you mean "clean them"? I have a couple of those pumps and never have seen a need to clean them. I wipe them off with a rag when I'm done, but that's all.

As convenient as those pumps are I still end up getting fluid all over the place. I do wipe them down afterwards but the next time I go to do it either I've left the pump sitting on the shelf and dust and dirt have stuck to the residual fluid or I've put it in a plastic bag and it's all slimy with fluid again. Definitely more out of convenience than anything I pick up a nice new one for 10 bucks.

and is wiping off the residue not considered cleaning them? Do you leave the pump and hose full of whatever lube you used it for the last time? Larry |

I bought one of these and it works good. But I can see the piece of clear tubing on the discharge nozzle would be a great addition.
Store it in a ?almart bag - that will keep the dust from collecting on it.

Essentially the same pump minus the output hose and nozzle. What is also nice about the Sta-Lube type is that the output nozzle has a pinch clip to hold the nozzle in the fill hole of the tranny or T/C.
