Are many early Willys jeeps around that still wear original paint? Has anyone seen them at shows or does anyone have photos of any to share? Thanks!

To my knowledge, and you didn't mention the condition of an original finish, good examples are few and very far between. I think you may have an underlying question in your mind. Are you looking for examples to determine your Jeep's future color?

Ya, I was questioning the existence of well kept original paint examples of any early Willys jeeps. Would love to see some examples of these in photos.

Daron Wanberg has several. I based my paint job on them. I don't know if he still has his website.

Thanks for sharing those. This past year I acquired an original paint (that is in outstanding condition) CJ2A '48, so I want to explain my interest.

It is full of mods and I am in a quandry.   I had this idea to search for canvas original top/s, and came up with all kinds of stuff, some really exceptional pieces. (Ebay and Craigslist anywhere). Problem is they are for a different version jeep. I almost started to butcher the canvas top up as I had a cool plan to make it work, and it would have looked great but my experience with collectable cars/parts stopped me in my path...as I had already planned aftermarket wheels and tires to replace the current aftermarket wheels. It may be that I have one of the cleanest original paint CJ2A's out there, so maybe I better stop and research things better before I further take this gem away from original? I am hopeful I can get guidance and advice and figure out a few things. I am just going to cease any projects or plans for it until I have a clear direction for its future. I definitely know the modded aftermarket look I would pursue, but it is now my enigma car.

I may reach out for valuation guidance and am hopeful it's worth a lot. Please don't be put off by that part. I know that rubs many wrong. I may or may not sell. I love it and acquired another so I could drive and enjoy one, instead of fretting over it.

Great to see the other 's out there, thanks for posting. I've tried posting photos and the size limitation is messing me up. I'm on the road and will conquer these cyber issues when I get home and post then.

some shots of my '48

I am going to stay the course and continue on with a modded build rather than consider returning to original/restoring as I have no freakin idea how or tools to do that :)

there are so many really thoughtful mods on this rig, that I am going to further the vision (mine) and finish up what I hope you all enjoy as much as I will.  Ill keep the photos to a minimum until I am proud of projects and looks and share as I go.  Notice the rifle handle gear shift handles...see what I mean, mods are all over the build already.  It was set up as the ulitmate hunting rig, so I am continuing on with that theme and adding 'cool' factor whenever possible.

Please - this is an already running thread on original paint jeeps, so please keep that going.  I enjoy the picture thing as much as anyone.

been years since posting, but enjoyed the heck out of my Cj - I am going to be offering it on bringatrailer.com for anyone seeking what has to be one of the better original paint rigs out there.  I'll miss it, enjoyed it around Tahoe the last three years, the ultimate beach cruiser.

my CJ did horribly on the BAT auction.  I am going to be offering my other Willys.  It's a '48 also.  It is the complete opposite of this one.  It's a hot rod build and EVERYTHING is shiny and NEW.

Be on the lookout please if this type of build is your thing.  I would post a photo, but can't figure out how I did it in the past?  I uploaded and looked at the photo, but it didn't post?
