On travel time to Whitewood, SD . The speed limit on Highway 85 between Cheyenne and Newcastle is going to 70 MPR soon.
As soon as the sighs can be installed.
I do not drive the speed limit with a load.  Stopping distance really goes up and Wyoming has lots of deer and antelope that do not look before crossing the road.

I thought the deer and antelope in Wyo. could read, and only cross where there are crossing signs are posted. Am I wrong?----------------LOL. Good news on the speed limit. The shortest route coming out of Colorado is take Hwy 85 just north of Cheyenne through Torrington, Lusk and Newcastle.  Thanks Tom

Cheyenne is 20 miles out of my way. Tiny, I'll meet you at Hawk Springs.     BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

4 short months until the season kicks off. Mount Rushmore awaits. I'm in need of a patriotic feeling. Nothing is more American. Well, a good old Jeep from WW2 helps with that also. Are your Jeeps field tested? Oil topped off? Brakes adjusted? Chop Chop my friends.  Big smile

60's to 70's . Rain in the PM or for a day possible. Dust is at a low with lots of green. Water flowing, mud puddles, and crazy Jeep guys. LOL  The Black Hills are pretty laid back. 3200-6500 elevation.  We stop on the trail for lunch, so bring sandwiches. Whitewood has a local store with homemade sandwiches made by the owner. He also has a in house meat man. Excellent Jerky sticks and goodies. Non Alcohol reg. and premiuim. All 2 miles from my place. Easy sleasy. Decent groceries too. You'll like it. Wink

As things stand right now, my lovely bride will be with me this year.   Unfortunately, this means we will only be participating Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  It's a trade off.  A full week of BHR...or her company for part of the week.  I'm sure you all understand.

She is so excited to see South Dakota!

Mike said he'd pull the motor and get it to the mechanic this week .... however ...... he and his bride have been hitting the slopes this week and I'm thinking my jeep has been back burnered.  I am comforted by the thought of Mike falling on his hiney over and over, but STILL!

Do you guys have any idea how frustrating and helpless it feels to not be your own mechanic?  If I had life to do over, I might get more greasy.

That just sounds like a irresponsible retired person. I know one of those too! Wink When I "hit the slopes" it's in a Jeep or on a TT500 dirt bike. Those boards you put you feet on are dangerous. Maybe you can have Mike haul up the Sam CJ2A Jeep and keep it lubed and maintained? We'll find you a seat if all else fails Katie!

Is everyone interested in a 2016 BHJR sticker ?

Will be the same as last year, except this year, and a different color jeep..... Not to confuse the directionally challenged from Colorado!

Yes they are. I'm not doing hats this year, so they need something. Maybe the Mount Rushmore gift store would be a good stop off. I always liked the T shirts that showed the rear of the presidents. A bunch leaning into their respective places--------LOL.  Keystone is a fun tourist trap. Lots to see. Gold, trinkets, helicopter rides, tramway rides, food, even porcupine eggs. Fools Gold, minerals, shirts, just about anything. I won't charge for pictures with my deuce named Ellsworth or Tuffy the M37. Been thinking about the tunnels on the Iron Mountain Road. They drive tour buses through them with inches to spare. A good time. So far, I have a head count of 26 people Lee. Oilly
