Ryan,
If you look back on the past years' Fall Color Tours, when jpet was just getting to know his jeep and its capabilities, you will find lots of reports from him and others on the beautiful trails there surrounding the Thirsty Dirt Ranch than are fun to ride even if you don't want to risk your rig on the rocks. Those beauties are really the main part of the event. jpet is the most prolific reporter of these things and in recent years he has started to branch out into more "rocking" type adventures, but the other trails are still visited and enjoyed by all who participate. |

I hope that in a year (or two) we will be able to make this run with everyone. Family history in CO and would love to see some of the country I have heard about most of my life. Keep the photos coming everyone!

Mike and Nancy ROCK!!!
In my humble opinion, the fall colors this year were the best I have ever seen. The mountains were on fire. I am thankful for many things in my life. Seeing old friends again and meeting new Willys folks ranks very high on my list of blessings. Thanks to all of you. Our fearless leader, Mike... And his lovely wife Nancy... My beautiful wife Rachel... A secret place... An old graveyard in The ghost town of Winfield... Tumbleweed's CJ3A looks right at home in these Colorado Mountains... Very nice rig put together by Rick Cline... Very nice Willys courtesy of aboyandhisdog... |

I should have been there. If you have been following along my 4 dog duty turned into a six dog duty due to a skunk, and then there was the police showing up due to my 2nd and 3rd calls to 911 that I have ever done. A domestic dispute. I wouldn't have gotten involved but there was a childs voice during it.
So I was just sitting out on my front porch later and a voice called to me from the dark of my neighbors yard and asked if I was John. I knew it was the police and I told them I wasn't packing anything so they should come on over. Three officers were standing in my yard, properly placed and I'm sure all had vests on. I said that there is a pistola and a rifle in the living room, both were unloaded. I didn't tell them about the other 21 guns in the house that are locked up. That's how my weekend went and again I should have been in Nathrop.

Tim, you have a great eye for pics! Thanks for the memories. Folks should know you led us off the mountain top, through a blizzard, past wild timber tigers, narrowly escaping an avalanche, and then out of the wilderness back to the TDR. I'll bet Rachel helped.

Aspen Ridge Grand Ride:
Tellurium summit. Jpet was kind to let me drive his MB on the shelf road, and I maybe worried him a bit because it was thrilling! Not a peep from him though. His jeep is nicely built. Very easy to drive, very predictable throttle response. Ron did a nice job of getting us up there. Edited by tamnalan - 30 Sep. 2016 at 2:14am |
