Can you guys check out the pictures of my T84 gears on photo bucket and let me know which ones need replacing?
I think most of them are fine but some are worn. Not sure what I can use and what needs replacing. Thanks Jon Edited by 92889 - 29 May 2016 at 10:39pm |

I found some good information online from JeepDraw and Shnitzlhaus on dressing out some of the worn teeth. Also how to check if a gear or spline shaft is worn.
If anyone has any knowledge to pass along it would be appreciated. Looks like the main shaft needs replacing as it looks broken inside. (Last picture (17) with the yellow arrow) Jon |

It looks like your main shaft for first gear is bad, its from the po shifting into first but not stoping the trans from turning, or just crashing the gears ,its hard to say much else by the pic. if you are interested just give me a call or pm me and my son and i can look at it with you.

Cluster gear, reverse idler need to be replaced at the minimum.
Low and reverse slider might be okay. Some of the others, hard to tell from the pics.

I should have asked:
What was the reason for the tear down ? How are you planning to use your Jeep in the future ? You might be able to dress up and reuse the gears if you are only using the Jeep for parades and ice cream socials. In other words, local, low mileage. If you're going to Jeep it and put 10,000 miles on it in the next two years, I'd replace what should be replaced. I'm from the do-it-once, do-it-right-the-first-time era.
