Hi guys,
Looking for some assistance on determining  which holes in the tub are original and which ones need to be filled in, thanks to all the info available here I've got the firewall and dash figured out, now to the rest of the tub. I'm going to do this is segments, post a pic of one section, see what everyones' thoughts are and then move to the next section. So here we go
On this one I know that A is for the wiper tube, B is for the windshield pivot bracket, the screw head below F is for the fuel guage wiring loom. I'm thinking that C is maybe for the mirror bracket. The rest I don't know, any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

A; Vacuum wiper
B: Windshield pivot
C: Mirror

Everything else is extra swiss cheese. Why would the fuel guage wire loom exit F?? It goes through the firewall!

Thanks, the guage wire comes up the inside of the tub and on the backside of the screw below F is a wire guide that the wire was routed through, maybe this is wrong, but it was the way I found it, but then again with all the other stuff that was changed I wouldn't be surprised. Is the fuel sender wire supposed to exit the firewall, go back along the frame and then up into the tub to the sender? Thanks again for the help. I may wait on filling holes D and F until I test mount my Koenig top, they almost look like the right place for the doors to mount. Don't want to fill them in and then redrill them later in the same placeConfused.

The a fore mentioned bubba holes could have been for another top, hard or soft. I updated my previous post with a picture of my original 20,000 mile 48 CJ2a for a better reference.

Hope this helps even more...Smile

A: wiper vacuum hose
B: windshield pivot bracket
C: mirror bracket
D & F: door canvas sockets.  They were installed on ALL CJ2A, whether it came with a canvas top or not.
K & L: lower door hinge

All others bubba.

An unmolested side panel:

Canvas door sockets:

Fuel sender wire routing.  From the gauge it snakes behind the dash & down the corner of dash/side panel to the mirror bracket, where it attaches to the lower rear mirror bracket bolt w/a wire clip.  From there it passes thru a hole in the side gusset, tucks up inside the body side lip, passes behind the the side angle reinforcement, and then to the sending unit.

Thanks guys, think I'm getting a handle on this section. Sean, do you know if anyone makes a repro or a reasonable facsimile of the canvas door sockets?  Here's a pic of the other side of the cowl, I know the hole B is a bubba thing, but I think I've seen a similar hole arrangement  in some pictures of other jeeps (can't remember where though), I was thinking a  CB antenna or something like that.  The rest of the holes I think I've got figured out from the responses  already posted (obviously never had an outside mirror on this side) Thanks again for all the help, this place is an invaluable resource.

Thanks Art,
Figured it was a mirror of the left side, you did confirm my suspicions about the antenna. Later I'll start on identifying the holes in the rear but I need to wait until I get the floor back in and get my support framework removed so I can see the holes the framework is covering up. Thanks again.

This is all good info - Does anyone have a picture of a bare firewall with all the holes ID'ed? Both my 2A and my project M38A1 have firewalls that look like Swiss cheese.

BTW - The 3-hole mount antenna bases are still available for CB, 10-Meter band and VHF radios - as well as for "buggy whips" for use in the dunes. I wouldn't mount one in that position though - it looks like it's just begging to be torn off by the first big bush the Jeep rubs up against!

Many places:
Most any MB or canvas vendor has them.  Part no. A-3051, they were a war-time item.

Not quite all the holes.  I intend to add bolt and screw holes eventually:

Thanks, Art and Sean! Those pix give me a starting point as to which extra holes I need to patch and weld up.
