Last week I picked up my top from a friend in Westminster Maryland. I also got my spare tire carrier and started mocking it up. I'll be adding supports to the body so the carrier will not rip the tub apart. The top fits well and seems to hold up to the wind. I'll be adding a window at some point as it sucks not having one. Here are the photos. It's great having my jeep running again!

I used .45 wire at first and finished up with .30 wire. Lol it was way to big but it did the job. I wish I had .20 or .25 wire. I used a Kevlar filler to cover the weld marks and grind marks. |

That’s Looking pretty good Mike. Wondering what gauge wire you are using?
I’m learning to spot and quit trying to weld a solid seam all the way across to get less warpage. Thinking maybe I could weld cooler if I got a smaller wire diameter, think I’m using .32 right now. Know I’ll need smaller tips but not sure if I’d have to change out the feed cable or casing but the roller probably also have to be changed on a blue box. Do you bondo or fiberglass over that seam once you have it grounded smooth? There seems to be a whole lot of good body men on the 2aPage. Every time I do something you can always see a line where the work was done. Great to see you saving that old tub!

Another way to keep the top from flapping on top of your head is to tie the two bows together, up on top. I've seen an ordinary belt looped over both bows and cinched tight but I used military issue tiedown cord to cinch mine, one loop near each side. I'm 6'2" and sitting on thick M-38 seats so flapping was a problem but not anymore. Larry |

Holy crap! No way! I don't blame you!! I drive it every day with my koenig and Mohave heater. Now that the koenig top is gone I drive it but not everyday. I've been covering it up when I remember to before we get snow. That way when I does I'm not getting to wet driving around in the snow. I've done lots of that. It's not to bad here. Yesterday was 40 and I driver around with the windshield down. Just a light jacket on and sun glasses. It was cold!! Lol in northern places I'd have a full cab top and at least one heater. It would be nice to find an Arctic top from a M38.
Thanks, HILLBILLE. The YJ is getting a full GenRight build pretty soon. I need to finish the axles for the 2a and the JK, well it's cool but it's my wife's daily driver and the Willys tow vehicle. Lol |

LOL. That might work in MS, but not up here! We had over 60 days of sub freezing temps (below 0*F) And 23 days were in a row! I can deal with no top and Carharts, when it's 20-25 above and a little snow....but -30? Ain't happening! Jeeps are looking good Mike! HB |
