Looks good, I can attest to removing that front 1/4 panel is a huge pain, but really worth it.

Mike,
it looks (worse/better) depending upon where one is standing and which eye is open. Honestly, looks like progress to me. Keep it up. |

Hey Mike,
I'm looking at the pic of the floor you got welded in and noticed something. I'm assuming these are floors from Classic? Anyway it looks like they protrude father than the original flat floor area? Is this so? is this so you can take it up the tunnel father if it's rusty there as well?

i got these floors from circle nr jeep parts over 2 years ago. they're nolonger in bussness. i didn't think about the extra metal near the trans hump being for forming new tool box and dr side trans hump till i had them welded 1/2 way. they're nicely done and only cost me 60 bucks when i got them.

That looks wicked Mike, good work! Reminds me of when I did mine, when you get to the hat channels I would recomend bolting a flat piece of metal to the underside( top side when top upright) to keep everything flat and true while you tackweld the channels together. Keeps everything from warping.

ahhh good idea. thanks. i'm tring to keep it from warping too much. all i have right now is .045 wire and my mig is down as low as it can go w/out being turnd off. i still blow holes left and right but i'm taking my time and keeping the steel as cool as possible. i was thinking about how to weld the channels. i traced out my old ones on the floor today,(pics in my album now) to get a idea of where they're going. tomorrow i was going to start measuring, cutting and attching them to each other, (not the floor) , along w/ completeing the transmition tunnel. i'll hopefully get my stuff from classic enterprises befor the weekend and the floors will be complete. i can say that as far as i'm conserened this is going better and easyer than i had expected.

Mike,
You might consider a thinner wire, it requires less heat to melt the wire and doesn't blow through as bad. I normally use .023 (or 021, can't remember exactly) |

i got a roll of .030 but that is the thinest i can use. i have a 100% duty cycle miller that weighs more than the jeep. it belongs to work and i need to use it for work. my .045 is running down and in a week or so i'll be putting the .030 on. i wish i had access to a smaller welder that i could use .020 or about. it would make my life alot easyer. i keep a wet rag and take my time. i'm sure i'll become really friendly w/ a body hammer. i uploaded a vid to my album of the floors so far. not tooo bad?
