Thinking about building a set of custom half doors for my cj2a. I'll post pictures as I build them. Iam going to use 16 or 18 gauge sheet metal with 3/4 by 3/4 square steel for frame, with a inside handle and primed for paint choice of your color. They will not be fancy but nice addition to the willys. If any one else is interested I can figure out a price and go from there. Thanks

I would be interested in having just the frames made out of 1/4 or 3/8 rod that I can have covered in vinyl. Still would need latches and some way to mount.

very nicely done. my newly acquired Beagle travels with me a lot when I'm oot and aboot in Willy (CJ2A). not much room for her in the back besides I want her next to me where I can see her. I've been tying her leash to the grab bar but am wanting a removable door to keep her in. anyone else have photos they care to share?

I had my 'doggie door' fabricated at a local body shop...photos below. I had it painted black for now but the shop, who did the current paint job, is trying to acquire a small amount of matching paint in case I want to have it painted green to match the jeep body. I'm also considering having it covered with the same fabric on the seats.
the door swings open and is secured with a rubber hood latch. when not being used the door simply lifts out for easy storage. 'Maggie' usually rides in back but if I'm carrying cargo then I'll put on the door so she can ride up front. she's a good rider and the door will give me a bit more peace of mind. in either case I secure her leash when she rides. ___________________________ |
