Sean.. here's pix. I'm referring to extra hole at top of this driver-side air filter bracket. Also, on left, under passenger-side air filter bracket is what I believe to be original Pasture Green (am I correct?).
Thanks!!!.. R |

Terry - thanks. I'm not referring to the holes in the firewall, I'm referring to the hole in the top of the air filter bracket - it's not needed for the air filter - what is it for?
Thx...R

Sorry, it took me a while to get out to the parts pile! Never paid any attention to it before, but now that I look at it, I think it's just for jig-alignment purposes. That brace arm sits at an odd angle, both inward & upward. The holes & notches are cut in the 2 pieces before welding together, so I think they're there just to get exact alignment during welding. If there was another purpose, it would have originated on the MB, since that part was the same.
Looks like it to me! Sean

I have to disagree. Mine had a stamped bracket that fit the clamp exactly. up on the air cleaner would be way too high. pic of mine Edited by ovrlnd - 27 May 2011 at 8:09pm |

edit:
the hole is for mb/gpw e-brake cable is correct.
2a's have the small bracket on the firewall and that's correct.
but i have no idea if 2a's ever used (maybe early) the hole on the air filter mount because mb/gpw e-brake handle/cable run a different route thru the dash/firewall than the 2a's. Edited by kernel - 27 May 2011 at 8:56pm |

Hi Ovrlnd,
I agree with your comment about how the hand brake cable is attached to the firewall with the small bracket. I only mentioned (because that was the question) about the hole on the air filter bracket. I never mentioned that's correct for a CJ-2A , I said GPW and MB. Cheers, Charlie Jeep |
