Did a search, without success. Anyone no how to mark threads I've already read. I've been keeping up with new threads. And reading old ones. Spend way to much time re-reading threads already read. Would be nice to be able to mark it as already read. Any suggestions.

Jesse,

The easiest way to avoid looking at old posts is to bookmark the New Posts page and always start there.  Using cookies that the forum software stores on you computer, the New Posts page will list all, and only those, posts that have been made since your last visit to the forum. If you use multiple computers to access the forum, you can easily use the Show Topics dropdown menu to tell the forum software how long ago it should use to establish which posts are new to you.

Give it a try - it really works.

Edit: One additional thought:  Click on the light grey right arrow to the right of the last poster instead of the Topic link on the left of each entry on the New Posts page. The right arrow will take you to the most recent post in the thread and save your plowing through the entire thread.  If you have missed more than the last post of a thread, you can easily back up a few posts from the most recent post.

Hey Sam that sounds great for new threads I'll try that. But what about the 400 old ones that I am going threw. Is there anyway to mark those as read. What I've been doing is right the page and the thread I am up to. But that's getting old too. Thanks.

Give it a try - it really works.

The only thing I can suggest for old threads is to work methodically through the pages of each forum going from oldest to newest using the Page dropdown to the upper right of each forum.  Then click on the oldest thread and read it.  Thereafter the thread topic will appear in a different color in your browser when you return so you'll know that you have opened and, presumably, read the topic.  That should be fairly reliable.

Yea that's what I've been doing the problem is if you log off. They all go back to blue. One more question. And I appreciate your quick response. The pictures I have uploaded. If I want to go back and grab that same picture for other threads. It makes me go back to my computer to download. Then gives me a error message saying I have to change then name before I can use it. Is there a way. And I think I've tried everything. So that I can go back to my pictures I've already uploaded to use it again. Does that make sense. Thanks again Sam.

If by "log off" you mean literally logging out of the forum, try not doing that.  Just close your browser, although I do not think that logging out will make any difference because, now that I think about it, I have logged out a number of times even though, normally I do not.  My browser, Firefox remembers threads I've read years ago.  What browser do you use?  It could be a setting in your browser.

Yea I can count on one hand how many times I've actually logged off. I do stay logged in and am reaserching night and day. But sometimes. Everything goes back to blue. Even though I didn't log off. I am a mac guy and am using my iPad with Safari. The only thing I'am not doing as you mentioned is start with oldest post and work my way back. I'll try that. What about how to use pictures again that I've already uploaded. Without having to go back out and change the name and re-upload. Thanks man.

I can't help you with the iPad or a Mac.

For photos already uploaded, be sure that you are using the Classic view, not the Mobile view with the iPad (bottom of each forum page) and the full Reply.  Then click on the Insert Image "tree" icon (Insert Image) that opens the Image Properties dialog box.  To the left you will see list of files and photos already uploaded. Click the one you want to use, and that will insert it in the current post avoiding the problem you are having.  I have seen Safari do some strange things on the forum, so it may be an issue with Safari.  Give what I've suggested a try in this thread and see what happens.

Ok tried that. I am in classic mode. But when I tried to use the tree icon you suggest. It takes me to a box that states. Enter the web address of the image. Is there a web address where you store my uploaded images? And how do I get it. Thanks again.

Ok Sam. Just FWI, As far as the photo issue and iPad. I went and used my mac desk top computer. And as you said it brought me to the right area to re-use my photos already uploaded as you said. For some reason it doesn't work that way with the iPad. Just thought In case you run into this problem again. You had the answer. Doesn't work that way with the iPad. Thanks again.

Jesse,

I found a way to post existing photos using an iPad.  See example, above.  You navigate to your File Manager and select the photo that you want to repost.  Then long select the link that is displayed and then, in the pop up menu, select copy URL.  Then go compose the post you want to make. When you get to the location in the post whee you want to insert the photo, use BBcodes for the insert image which are {img] paste the image URL here {/img] and then compose the rest of the post, if any.  In my example of BBcodes, I used a { where you need to type a [ just so it would display the codes.  Click on the link to BBcodes to see examples of all possible uses of BBcodes.

I was using the Dolphin browser on my iPad but I believe the same thing would work using Safari.  I was also in Classic mode.  I realize this is a bit convoluted, but then Safari and Dolphin are both broken in certain ways so this is the necessary work around. It may be that there is another browser for your iThing that will work correctly with the forum software.

I am on my Android Toshiba Thrive that also has Safari as the default browser and it is the same as the iPad - broken.   I will try Firefox on the Thrive next.

Firefox works on my Thrive so I know that the problem is with the various mobile browsers.
