We have been busy with our M37 we picked up in July. Started to fix her up.We got the troop seats, canvas top for the cab and rear top bows with canvas top as well. I wish the other sites were as good as the 2A Page. Its harder to gather info for the M37.any how here are a couple pictures.

That bed looks pretty nice...Was it that good to begin with and just needed paint work? It will be a sweet truck when you finish by the looks of what you have done so far!

G741.org is a M37 chat site. Not as many Guys that own M37's as CJ2A's. However, I've got two and know a bit about them. You sure can ask here and also get help. The guys here don't care, they haven't got rid of me yet ! All they are is a big Jeep anyway. They leak oil just like Jeeps and are slower than Jeeps so Jeep guys feel they can kick your a#$. They can't haul a rated 2000 lbs in the back though. Your truck looks in great shape and I see OD which means you have a case of Green Disease. Very good! The idea is to have fun. John

The bed was rusty but overall in really good shape. the steel on these are way thicker than the 2A steel. The frame looks to be 3/16 thick. We are not doing a frame off like we did on the 2A. Ive been to the G741 site but its not the same as my pals here on the 2A page. Way more info and answers here. Here is a picture of the bed before painting.

That's as good as any I've ever seen before blasting and painting. You did good! Mine likes 38-40 on the road and whine twice as loud as a Jeep. The transfercase and differential seals are a tough item to get out. Pack a lunch! One nice thing you can remove the lower inner front fenders to work on the engine. Wiring is very expensive. Chained up, they are bad boys! John

They are super trucks - we have one too... it's a 1952 model if I'm remembering correctly. I remember it was delivered on my mom's birthday which I always thought was neat. Most have low mileage on them. I think we'll likely lift the bed off and maybe the cab as well to give it all a good
clean up. Not a priority right now, but it's safe and sound tucked inside the barn high and dry!

I didnt realize that many here had a M37. We should all tow our 2A's with the m37 to the reunion. That would be something.

A M37 is a military bodied Dodge power wagon. It's the next generation truck that followed the WW2 weapons carriers. They modernized it by giving it synchros in 2nd and 3rd. Not much else except 24 volt fording capability. I've been amazed at how cheap they are compared to a civilian model power wagon of the 50's. If you like a CJ2a you would also like a M37. Another toy to play with. They are excellent, probably the best, firewood getter I have ever used. Then there is the 101a1 trailer. I bought two on GL locally, 360.00 and 380.00 each. Fantastic deal. They are Heavy Duty buddies!. John

Its to cold to do any body work. We have been restoring the wiring and dash cluster lights. Sitting in front of the boob tube sorting out the crumbling wires. Cant afford new wire harnesses so I am crumbling off the rotten wire covers until I hit good wire. Then a couple layers of shrink tubing and good as new. Very time consuming but beats paying over $1000 for replacement harness.I dont have to worry about being 100% water proof since we wont be doing any fording.

Ok so today to aid in reassembly we are labeling wires on the passenger side inner fender so we can pull the harness for repair. We are disconnecting the harness that goes thru the firewall/ front lights and connects to the rear harness. We are disconnecting and labeling one wire at a time. Some of the metal wire tags are missing. So far at least one side of the douglas connectors has the numbered wire tag so we can label the other side by looking at the wire diagram. Our discrepancy came when we got to a connection marked 22A The metal tag marked 22A is on the side going to the rear harness, the other side is not marked and goes to the firewall harness. In the TM wire diagram there is no 22A. In the manual there is a circuit marked 22 coming from the light switch marked "service stop lamp" this would be the firewall harness side. it runs to the douglas connector that leads to the rear harness marked 22b. Is it safe for me to assume that the 22b in the manual is my 22a and the side that is missing the tag on mine is 20 in the manual? My truck is a 1953 and the manual says May of 55. If anyone has some insight on this please let me know. Thanks. I posted this on the G741 but havent got a response yet. Rob |

Lots of M37 info on the Power Wagon page. Just google it. Guys there are extremely knowledgeable. They have forgotten more than I'll learn about them.
