ralf;
The frame is looking pretty good. You must be spending some quality time out in the garage.

YAY!!! It's a great feeling when they start, isn't it? I see you have the military generator and bracket.. keep that in mind when wiring your regulator..

Ralf,
You're a welding crazy man, nice job.
I just but an electronic ignition in mine and by now, I have no idea where TDC is or if I even have the distrbutor facing correctly. I would only go one way, we'll see..................

Your project is looking good. Put the steering column and a seat on the frame and take it for a ride. It's a lot of fun. BTW that wasn't my Dad at the reunion. It was a friend of mine.

Where did you get the springs and shackles, and who is the manufacture?

Got them from Walck's the springs say made in USA . Shackles are old style but I suspect they are imports. the springs were about $60 each and bolted right up. Beats messing about with the old ones. Cheep Jeep bought the old rear ones at the Reunion and someone also carried away the front ones for $10 or so. I wasn't going to haul them home.

Pulled the engine back off the rolling chassis to clean and paint the block. Mounted it on an engine stand and pulled the front cover and oil pan. Looks good inside. What precautions are recommended before I close it up? I will lean the oil pickup. Why the yellow paint on the front of the crank?

Looks pretty nice in there, Ralf.. Wonder if maybe it was a training motor used to train jeep mechanics at one point? We used to paint up themotors we used in school like this, made it easier to point out things like the number one throw on teh crank, for instance.
