Strange as it is I've read a few arcticles that say the John North Willys family name was pronounced Willis. Who would know better how to pronounce their own name? However now and in the past 60 years at least seems everyone, me included says Will-ease. Don't know if it came from the war or before or what but think it will  be Will-ease forever more.

I agree with Allen.  The correct pronunciation of the name is "willis" but almost all of us say "will-eeze," including me.

It's Willis as heard in some of the early factory films.
Willeeeze is just the nick name.

Like most I say will-eeze. For me it goes back to being a kid as thats what my buddies and I saw stamped on the hood and windshiled.

Although after learning the 'correct' pronunciation hanging out here, I do say Willis whenever it's attached to Overland.

When I talk to somebody who doesn't know jeeps, I say Willeze.
When I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about or am trying to be cool among jeep guys, I sometime say Willis!
98% of the time, I don't know what I'm talking about so I say Willeze!Big smile

Some of us may say "Will-eze" BUT if you want to be correct maybe you should pronounce it the way the Founder of the company prefered his name pronounced:

Just a suggestion.
