Seems everyone who modifies eventually kicks the Ross box to the curb, and the Saginaw seems the chosen route. Anyone considered a rack and pinion setup?. Why or why not?

Traditional rack & pinion won't work properly. Rack needs to be solidly mounted. Axle articulation is a b...h for conventional racks... there is however, a new "cross-steer" rack that Speedway Motors is marketing...any body have thoughts on that one?
