This is bittersweet for me...I hold no ill will towards Nick whatsoever, I cannot be in his shoes. My initial thoughts have to be this is somehow above the usual, and I trust he's weighed the options...
I wish him the best, and only offer the perspective of coming up on 52yo and remembering my outlook at 19... there are so many things that seemed necessary in my youth that even at 52 were ... tough calls. There are many decisions made in my youth I cannot afford now that I am richer... Edited by mbullism - 04 Aug. 2016 at 5:17am |

It's a very cool show piece and absolutely should be preserved for all time. Owning a show or collector item is a two edged sword. You should keep it running, but destroying it or risking it tends to make the owner not use it much. It's a historical museum piece and in my esitmation should be placed in this arena. Value? It's the only one of it's kind according to the owner. I hope he gets his reward for saving it and some venue displays it for all time. Love the article on in The Dispacher magazine. He has another Jeep he can drive so the funds from it are for his education. All good! John

I think it would be a hard vehicle to have in that you want to drive it, but those tiny wheels and generator in place would make it very difficult to do so.
I'd love to see a museum get ahold of this. |

This is very bittersweet for me. On one hand it is very cool and unreal to own, on the other I have big plans for after graduation. A plan so crazy it just might work for an end goal I've dreamed of for years. I wrote a little bit in my thread here.
One of the things that makes this decision easier is knowing anyone who will pay the value is someone who will take care of it. I'm sure it will end up somewhere I can visit it. There are some very big name bidders; it will be quite the show! I can't express how happy I am to see the interest (and that I'm not crazy for being protective of it). |

The APU made it on Bring a Trailer!
I've been following this site for years. They made a fantastic write up summary of the eBay ad. With a larger exposure, I wonder if more Navy Jeeps/parts will come out of the woodwork. http://bringatrailer.com/2016/08/05/early-navy-jet-starting-rig-1951-willys-jeep-cj-3a/#comments |

The APU was close to my asking number. I finally relisted her on eBay with a buy-it-now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Willys-Jet-Starter-Jeep-/272380205458?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f6b201992:g:6V8AAOSwIgNXoW5H&item=272380205458
