brake light switch question

I believe the brake light switch on my master cylinder might be bad.

Will removing the old switch drain the master cylinder?

I'm new to these beasts and my manual doesn't say anything related to this. It just says something to the effect of "...replace if necessary..."

Just want to make sure I'm prepared for some brake bleeding if need be.
