when i tore down my 45's brakes i ran into the same problem. if you can't find the correct which i would try to do first. if you cann't remove it by hand i used a screw driver and tapped it w/ a hammer. just be carefull not to hit too hard and damage the ring or anything else. ps try to post to the new message board. there is a link on the home page. it take a bit of getting used to but it is nice and well laied out. hope i helped out.
