Fuel line replacement - steel vs. rubber?

I'm removing the tub on my 3A and have had to cut the steel fuel line from the tank to the pump because a PO had stripped all the fittings at the tank and midway through the line.

When putting everything back together should I use steel or just go with a rubber line?

I'm not going for a factory resto, but a functional one and have seen posts about using both methods.

Any pros and cons for either are greatly appreciated...

Thanks!
