CJ2A #174525 in the family
for 30 years!

Here are some pics and a short story of my restoration on a 48 CJ2A, s/n 174525.

I purchased this jeep from my aunt in Kansas in 2003. It had been owned by my uncle for about 25 years. Prior to that, it had been used as a farm jeep. It includes the PTO and hydraulic reservoir/control. At one time it had a governor, hydraulic pump, and lift, but the whereabouts of this stuff is still unknown.

This was a full tear-down, frame-off restoration. The drive train was in very good shape, but the tub, fenders, and windshield frame left something to be desired (typical for farm use … take care of the drive train … the body doesn’t matter). I replaced all body parts except the front grill, hood, and tailgate. I also rebuilt the engine, axles, and partially rebuilt the transmission and transfer case.

Now we plan to use if for joy rides and mild off-road excursions. Next additions are a roll bar and a Tiger top.

Let the fun begin!

Thanks for posting this on your 2A site!
