Do you need to let off a little steam?  Have local road closures got you down?  Maybe your favorite Jeep trails are shut down because of bad weather.

Well it’s time to plan to join us here in Colorado for some high country Jeeping adventures.  Yes this is the announcement for the 2024 Colorado Flat Fender Club’s annual Fall Color Tour (FCT).  Our team of experienced guides will take you high up into the Colorado Rockies to enjoy some grand scenery, some beautiful fall foliage, some old Willys comradery, and a chance to enjoy a dream vacation with some of the best support and facilities you could ask for.

From the snowy peaks above to the golden forests on the mountain sides to the dusty high deserts on the valley floors, we’ll guide you to many great viewpoints where you can enjoy the scenery and bring home special memories.

If you’d like to join us this September for a week of great rides and high adventures, then download and fill out the registration form located here:

https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/uploads/1479/cffc_fct_2024_Registration.pdf

Send it to one of the addresses on the bottom of the page to get your Jeep group entered into the lottery for one of the 50 available Primary slots.  We will gather at the Thirsty Dirt Ranch for a week of 22-28 September 2024.  If you don’t know what to expect there is a brief but comprehensive guidebook available that will help you learn what to expect while you’re here.  It’s available at:

https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/uploads/1479/FCT_guidebook.pdf

Take a look at the guidebook and see if it helps you plan to have a good time with many like-minded Jeepers.  My wife, Nancy, and I look forward to inviting you to join us for a great Jeep adventure based out of our home, the Thirsty Dirt Ranch.

This is definitely on my short list of trips I want to do in the Jeep, but I don't think I can have mine ready by this time this year, and won't be able to make it due to work next year.  Look out 2026, though!

The registration forms are flowing in every day.  So far it's about a 60/40 mix of experienced FCT folks to new folks.  That's a good mix right there.  We love seeing old friends coming to join us for another week of tours.  We also enjoy getting to meet new friends from across the country who are here for the first time.

After the lottery is run in May, we will again be offering jobs to those folks who are on the Alternate list as a way to help them secure a spot for this FCT.  But it's a little bit early to be thinking about that right now.  Now is the time to get your registration forms in so we can see how many folks will be in the lottery.  So get those forms filled out and emailed in to me, and we'll hope to see you in September!

Mike,  Our registration is on its way via snail mail.  Your jeep kind of looks like a steam locomotive, ha ha. Was that last year?   Mike

Yes, this grumpy old man was letting off a little steam after discovering that one of the hot water hoses in the engine started splitting.  We needed to take the pressure off the cooling system so we could repair the hose.  That cloud of steam should have been coming out from under my hat!!

Mike, That got me to thinking, I haven't given a close look at my hoses lately. I better do that. Other than that I think Joey is in pretty good shape ( to the best of my recollection ) thanks. For now, I am working on cosmetics.  Mike

Mike, it's good to check your hoses every year.  if you can collapse them with your fingers, they probably need to be replaced.  Or you have very strong fingers!

Swampfitter, you got that right!

Jim, I've got yours, and a bunch of other folded forms in my snailmail.  I should probably do a rundown of all the names I have already.  I've been replying to all the emailed forms I've received so the sender will know that I have his form.  But I haven't done anything yet for the folded hardcopy forms I've received. So here's a rundown of all the names I've got in my folder, both mailed and emailed, in no order whatsoever: Hoffman, Rice, Gonzalez, Mattes, Bushdiecker, Brozek, Wagner, Christensen, DeMuth, Luber, Hackney, Clark, Weikert, Huffaker, Wilson, Boog, Hansen, Campbell, Croge, Fuller, Lopez, Johnson, Livingston, McNeill, Richards, Losco, Sturdevant, Robbins, Larson, Gillette, McNabb, Quirin, Wells, and Pineda. 34 registrations so far.  These folks are the early birds by getting their forms in mostly in the first week.

Mike, Does it count if I used to milk cows by hand?  (That was a long time ago).   Mike

Mike, yes that counts against you.

To all,  I've been getting so many new registration forms, and found a couple that I had missed earlier in the month, that I thought I'd better add some names to the previous list.  So, in no order at all, here are the names I've added since the last list:  Landau, Ammon, Roberts, Frantz, Collins, Vega, Dewberry, Leland, Snider, and Wilkinson.  If you don't see your name on either this list or the other list, please contact me and let me know when you emailed, or mailed, your form to me.  Thanks.

Here's another list of registration forms received up to noon Saturday, Jan 20.  Probably in the reverse order that they arrived here I have: Payne, Franks, Donnell, Vogelzang, Atmar, Mercier, Rodgers, Zailac, Johnson, Kjome, Hallam.  I will restart my practice from years past where I publish the names each Sunday, for the new registrations that I receive.

Greetings everyone, here is the list of names who sent in registration forms this past week.  Curtis, Petrick, Juette, Simpich, Bokelman, Tomt, Bishop, and Patik.  That brings the total count up to 63 forms sent in.

In other FCT news I talked with Bruce a few days ago and he expects to be back with us this year and guiding tours again.  He took time off last year to help take care of his Dad.  And Rick will also be guiding with us again this year as well.  That will give us Bruce, Rick, Ron, Jpet, and me.  So we'll have 5 expert guides to take folks out on the trails.  I'm thinking about adding a fourth tour on Monday thru Thursday.  Or I could give the guides more days off from guiding and stick with 3 tours each day.  I'll have to talk with the guides to see what they would like to do.
