You just see a shop like that and you can be pretty sure the guy knows what he's doing.  Thumbs Up

Not sure if there is a correct order but body work started by the back section of the jeep, here working on some details.

When then focused on the hat channels. Most of the panels were made by us, it is difficult to order and ship internationally large parts, so creativity and craftmanship were used in most sections of the body. One of the exceptions were the hat channels, I brought them in a short trip to Philly. We did not replace the wood hat channels.

Nice work.

I made repair sections of the hat channels and I noticed that there was no factory front bolthole at the firewall area. I thought about doing what you did, but then saw there is a factory side bracket that holds the front tip down.

Yes, I understand that that hole is not used, not sure why they were made in the hat channel. The side ones in the body, are the ones bolt to the frame.

My toe-board gussets have a hole that aligns with that hat channel hole.  I speculated that it was used to help align the hat channels when being attached to the bottom of the tub.  Once welded to the gussets, those holes were no longer needed.

More work on the body. The firewall had a lot of non-original holes that I tried to fix. In green the ones that are OK, in red the ones that were covered. Hopefully no mistakes there because they are gone.

Hey Mike, do you know if those 2 holes should be there in a 47?

Not sure where I got that information, so it’s suspect. Lol. But looking at Walck’s catalog, he sells a horn bracket for MB, GPW and early CJ2A up to serial number 51,228. Which would mean ‘46 was last year. Your holes might not be factory

Thanks.

By the way, I am trying to recreate the elusive Luzon Red. Do you have any tip on the formula? I saw some in the forum but I am not sure if they were tested.

I made the mistake of sandblasting the body before getting the correct color…

Jeeps have a ton of holes. Its a challenge when your welding things closed. Often times I welded things shut I later learned needed to be there, lol. Clap
