Figured I'd throw this build on here... I"ll do my best to keep it updated! This is my dads "Retirement Truck" project. He picked up a 1986 Chevy K10 reg cab short bed 4x4 for a steal from his neighbor. Always had a soft spot for these trucks.. It had a 305 in it, ran and drove good but needed a lot of TLC as it had been abused on a ranch all it's life in southern AZ. So we went back and forth on how much he wanted to do with it when I finally talked him into taking it clear down to the frame, restoring it but with an LS swap.
Here's how it looked when we got it home Donor motor... or so we thought. This is a 5.3 Vortec, but we ended up going with a 6.0 and a 4L80E instead. Which means I get my 5.3 back and it goes in my 52 Willys Wagon.. :D Did this is a Saturday.. Ditched the two 10 bolts it had and picked up a D44 and a 12 bolt. Stripped the frame down, did some repairs, and then used POR15 on it. Bringing the motor back from getting rebuilt. And here is how it sits until we get the cab back from the body shop. Awesome! I love me some square bodies! Had a '75 K5 Blazer, '78 K20 long bed, '79 C10 long bed, '79 K10 short bed, '86 K20 long bed. There may have been one or two more!
So far it looks great! What color will it be when finished? |
