Casey, don't give me all the credit for the patch. It is a mixing of many ideas from club members. I just paid for the art work and set up fees. Note the Colorado flag, the Aspen leaves from the FCT which put the club on the map big time. Jpet is most certainly a member! Like what was said above, this is a social group of flat fender nuts! Illinois has a rocking patrol going now too. I would like to have a better way of posting and getting the word out but the web is not my cup of tea. Fb was easy and no cost. I used to post here a lot but lost the ability to post pictures. Anyway, we are planning a BBQ toward the end of the month at my shop. Lots of new guys! Should be fun!

Hi Lew, Casey, other Facebook posters,
I am not so concerned about the IFFC posts or even the CFFC posts as I am concerned about the Fall Color Tour discussions, pictures, and video that might be posted on the IFFC Facebook page and not posted in the thread(s) on the 2A page. The media outlet for the Fall Color Tour has been thecj2apage.com from the beginning and throughout the years. This is long before there ever was a Facebook page. The 2A page is an open forum that anybody can lurk on. You do not have to be a member. You can read all of the posts, view all the photos, and watch the videos without announcing your presence. The IFFC is supposed to be, "no rules, no dues" .... but there is one rule. To participate, you have to join Facebook. The IFFC Facebook page can not be viewed unless you join Facebook and your friendship request is accepted, i.e. no lurking. Facebook is unorganized. Unlike this forum where the events are categorized in subfolders which are easy to search, The IFFC Facebook page is a single, continuous thread. When people blog, post pictures, video, what-not, they go to the top of the thread. As the years go by, the information gets buried and it is very hard to retrieve, if not impossible. Here on the 2A page, all you have to do is go to Shows and get togethers > views > then click the Reverse Sort Order arrow: ..... and BA-BAYAM! All of the CFFC threads, along with the other most popular jeep get-togethers, come to the top. All are organized by year. Everyone who want's to know anything about the FCT can lurk, (without joining). https://thecj2apage.com/forums/forum3&SO=V&OB=desc.html The popularity of the FCT is due largely to the reporting and documentation done here on thecj2apage.com. In the last couple years, the event has exploded due to the JP Magazine features.... well, Russ was the very first person that Traci Clark contacted. Russ put her in contact with me, and I put her in contact with Mike. I don't think there even was a Facebook page at the time. I'm not sure. I hope people reading this don't think that I'm trying to take credit for the FCT or thecj2apage.com is taking credit. Mike Picard deserves all the credit and the fine members such as Bruce, Ron and all the people who have turned it into a family reunion. I'm not 100% sure what the function or purpose of the IFFC Facebook page is, but it seems like one of the primary functions based on some posts I've read is to spark growth in the community. thecj2apage.com did NOT create the FCT, but I hope we can agree that the 2A page is largely responsible for it's growth, not the g503, not the 3A page, not the 3B page. This is where the conversation started. Now for the selfish part. I am an agent of the 2A page. I feel like I have worked hard to report on the FCT as soon as possible. I try to post something each night so that our friends can follow in real time. Photos, video editing, it all takes time....... how do you think I feel when I'm doing this and others post their stuff on Facebook where I can't even see it .... IDK, maybe I need to work on my character.... Said all that to say, I concede to the fact that the Facebook page is drawing the conversations away from the 2A page. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who is posting FCT pictures, and videos on Facebook would also post them here in our FCT thread. If posting pictures is a problem, perhaps Casey Day can be the ambassador. Why don't I just join Facebook? Probably because I want to guard myself from the unnecessary drama that goes with it. I also don't care what my neighbor had for breakfast and I don't want to know if my high school sweetheart is having marital problems. Edit: I'd also like to add at all y'all are my best friends and I would never do anything to change that. Edited by jpet - 05 Jan. 2018 at 4:15pm |

Jeff, I very much agree and this issue has bugged me for years. I used to post pictures until 2 different hosting sites wanted to bill me or limit my stuff. I had photobucket for years. It was a real pain as downloads took so long the web dropped me. Remember I work in some very remote places. I sure wish I had a solution. Fb allows almost instant pictures and video happens in 1 or two minutes.
Now consider that to do fb you do not have to friend others. That keeps you from seeing their breakfast or the dog. So don't let that hold stop you. But still, I wish I had a way or a person who would transfer good info between ALL the sites. When I discuss the FCT on fb I reference the 2apage as the central info spot for that. I have sent hundreds over that way. Russ even offered to build an IFFC PAGE for me long ago. I liked having a section on the 2a page. That waz very nice of him. I do know that the patrol concept has been wonderful. I have had jeep folks from other nations stay with me and go jeeping. They 'll love the FCT event and many copy that format where they live. The flat Fender jeep has brought people all over the world together. So, if anyone has a good solution, please help out. Fb does not have my loyalty. Thanks for your thoughts Jeff, maybe we can fix this. Lew Edit: just like you said. All friends. My fondest memory is sitting in camp surrounded by hot dusty jeeps, a camp fire, a cold beer and Jpet and Allen singing jeep songs with us.

like this?: https://thecj2apage.com/forums/cffc-midsummer-run_topic13724_post135158.html#135158 .... or this?: https://thecj2apage.com/forums/colorado-fall-color-tours-2011_topic17811_post180984.html#180984 Never forget this day: https://thecj2apage.com/forums/colorado-fall-color-tours-2011_topic17811_post180955.html#180955 That's the point I'm trying to make, ... probably badly, If you post it here, we can go back and reminisce. If you just post it on Facebook, you only get to enjoy it for a season before it is gone. You don't need photobucket to post here. Everyone has a large allocated space for pictures. It may not be as easy as Facebook, but don't you think it's worth it? ... IDK, I guess it's everybody's loss. You're a good friend Lew. Thanks for all you do for the jeep community. |
