Ron,
Yes the .049-.052  jets sizes are correct for late model Rochester 2G (manual choke) and 2GC (auto choke) as was original on Jeep Dauntless 225's.
You may need to I.D. your Rochester to determine if main jets are correct for your 225 odd fire.

As far as that goes I'm not even certain whether or not your running a Fireball 225 or a Dauntless 225.
Can you locate the V-6 engine code ?
The engine code is located on the forward RH side of block... on flat area just below the exhaust manifold.
Unless your engine was rebuilt that code among other things should provide us the CR of your particular engine.

The Rochester's were originally tagged with a triangle shaped aluminum  tag on the top side.
Some later vintage Rochester's are stamped directly onto carburetor body near the inlet.
The Rochester 2G was one of the finest factory carburetors ever manufactured.
It was used for many various engines so its certainly possibly your particular 2G carburetor may not be correct for your engine.
A major consideration will be the diameter of the carburetor venturi bore relative to the engines displacement.

You are usually pretty good but the Fireball was a 198 CI motor.

At first I had a hard time finding it,  because it is so faint,   but I seem to recall the code started with DPH,  which designates a '68 with 9.0 CR  (if the info I had was correct).

O.K. then so apparently you have a genuine Jeep Dauntless with the desirable 9.0/ 1 CR.
What about Rochester I.D.
If you can't find an I.D. on it then upload a couple pics and you will want to measure the diameter of the venturi bore.

Photos of identifying info on carb.

This is the carb that came on Commando engine I bought many years ago.   I would assume the original,  but can't know for sure.

Rochester with roll a stamp number on the side is definitely 1968.
However it seems it was intended for a Buick 300 and it came std. with .052 main jets.

I was hoping to make some changes to Wilson prior to Spring Reunion,   but that did not happen.  Swamped at work,  (so not much time off),  and lots of "good" family things going on at home,  so Jeep never rose to high enough priority.  . .   I have the parts,  just no time.

- no new radiator
- no new muffler and tailpipe
- no updated skid plate
- no floor over the SM420
- spare tire will not fit rear rack
- no new front driveshaft (need mods for the Tom Woods one to fit)

Since the trip out west I did get a few essential things done

- front locker works everytime
- better distributor
- carburetor works better

Basically the same Jeep,  except different tires,  a set of NDT's

I did manage to change fluids,  tighten up/ fix a few minor things etc. over the past couple weeks   . . . hopefully ready for the Reunion wheeling Smile

All I have to say is...... Ron, your jeep is awesome and it just plain works! you have done a great job setting it up. It looks so casual putting over obstacles that other jeeps struggle on. with no drama you claw your way to the top of my wheeling list of greats! you make it look easy... Im rather jealous.....

Thanks guys!    I was very happy with how Wilson performed that day.

Some video from that day:

Wilson's "action" shots are at 5:05, 13:00, 16:00, & 20:07

Wilson hit 1,000 miles yesterday on new speedo,  (added during the makeover).

This was returning from a parade that my breakfast buddy and I participated in.  Smile

One thing I noticed during parade was that Wilson had no overheating issues.   It did get to about 185 at one point I noticed,  but most of the time was 180 or less.    Not sure exactly what outside temp was during the parade,  but it was 88 deg when I left work to go pick up my buddy.  There was a lot of idling, and not moving.

I am wondering if early issues were because the engine was still breaking in,  and had a little more friction?

It has been a busy couple weeks of Jeepin'     This past weekend was the Great Willys picnic in Kempton, PA . .

.

.
Preceeded by a day at Rausch Creek.    Great fun,  and only some minor issues.  Bent front license plate,  kinked hood,  and busted rear tail-light lens.

Dropping of this rock is where I busted the rear tail-light lens:

Jpet's video:

Wilson at :57, 4:18, 8:48, 19:45, 28:40 & 33:34

After watching BamBam go thru the rocks at 1/2 Wilson's speed,   now I want start saving up pennies for a 4:1 set of gears for the Dana300  LOL

Ron,
I was really impressed with Wilson’s performance in the Rausch Creek video. Those NDTs are really getting the job done. The low speed crawls were cool to watch and you really seem comfortable and confident behind the wheel. Bravo!
I guess Jeff did alright too. Smile

Ron, What pressure were you running in those NDT’s at Rausch Creek? Are you running tubes?  Do you think they performed better than the Traxion?  Thx!

Ron .. I'd say your Jeep is performing exceptionally well and it still fully retains  traditional old looks and charm !
Don't turn it into a buggy !
I like it much the way it is !
Are those the 7.50 x 16 STA's ?

NDTs consistently impress me with their capability!  Your's, Stan's, Jeff's....I'd not have believed it.

Thanks Stan.   I have always liked the Dauntless engine for slow crawling, basically at idle most of the time  . . .  the addition of the SM420, and now these tires makes it even more fun.  They just seem to stick.

I really like where the Jeep is now also,  and not likely to change it much more,  especially visually.   It seems to be a synchronous system.  Smile   It will crawl in rocks,  and cruise at 60+mph with no drama.

The tires are 7.50 x 16.   I got them from Summit.  They are listed as Coker brand (is that associated with STA?)   Below is link.   Looks like they are $20 more expensive now,  than when I got them back in August.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cok-682312

I am running them on 4.5" wide wheels.  Jpet and BobW are on 5.0"

I was running them at 11psi,  both at BobEvans and at Rausch Creek.   With tubes.

I can't say "for sure" how they compare to Traxions in rocks.  I do not have a lot of experience with either.  The Traxions did well I thought in Rubicon and Moab, especially considering the front locker was not working most of the time.   The NDT's do seem a little better though. Looks like they wrap better around the rocks.   I was surprised a few times when they just stuck at Rausch.   The NDTs also did really well on an obstacle course at local fair grounds a couple weeks ago.  I saw many Jeeps spinning tires.  The NDTs never spun (more than 1/8 of turn or so),  other than when in the air.  haha

Where the NDT's seemed clearly superior, however, was in the slippery conditions at BobEvan's.  The Traxions seemed to load up and turn into slicks.  The NDT's cleared very well and pulled great.

I think at least half a dozen times at Rausch,  NoFender (Andy) commented to the effect ->  "it makes no sense you and Jeff can do that on NDTs"  LOL       Jeff did some more radical stuff than me.  I avoided any sections that had high percentage chance of body damage,  or potential roll over.

Ron, I watched Jeff's video from Rausch Creek a few days ago now and I was very impressed with Wilson's ability in the rocks. The slow idle of the Dauntless and the SM420 appears to make a really sweat combo. Makes me even more excited about my SM420 swap I'm currently working on. What do you have for a final crawl ratio? I could go back and read through the thread but I guess I'm too lazy.
