I will pick up some 90's as I want to fit a PTO drive shaft through there.  I think I will mock up the PTO before I begin the brake plumbing.

I wonder if the problem is due to the master cylinder being for a disk brake setup.  I'm looking to do this, but keep the drums.

Here is a source for the dual master cylinder banjo bolts:

http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com/index.cfm?ptype=product&product_id=107&category_id=128&home_id=-1&mode=prod&prd107.htm

How about this for brake light switch:

http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/group.asp?GroupID=BANJOLIGHT

And, they have banjo bolts:

http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/group.asp?GroupID=BRAKEBANJOBOLT

I also read a brake article where the installer dressed the cast master cylinder outlet port with a flat file to ensure a smooth surface for the banjo bolt copper washer to seat.

Ryan, the dual master works for all drum set up as well.  If one chamber is larger than the other, use it for the front brakes.

I just read about you wanting a duel master cylinder. If you want one that works with stock brackets get a master cylinder for a 1972-73 Jeep Commando. I have one on my 46 2a with stock steering and a Konig PTO. The front brake line is close to the drive shaft for the winch but i've never had a problem.

Any latter Jeep master cylinder will work as long as the ports are on the passenger side.  For some reason people call these Corvette style master cylinders.

The Commando style is about a 1/2 inch shorter than a CJ5 one thats why I suggested it. I have had both of these types on mine so they work without changing any stock brackets. Plus with disc brakes on the front of mine right now it stops great.

Thanks guys,  I ordered the kit from Herm a bit ago and got it Saturday.  I know I spent a bit more than I had to but I also had to order some PTO bits from him.  I like those banjo bolt brake switches though.

Hey Ralf, I just finished putting my dual MC in too. How far does your pedal move? Mine gets hard at about 1" from the floor board. There is no air in the system either.

Hey Nate

Sounds like you got it all installed and everything works right??? I think a dual master cylinder will be a welcome addition to your Jeep (much safer I believe). Did you have any major issues with the swap??? You didnt tear your Jeep down as far a Ralf did on his right?? Just wondering thats all. Thanks for any insight

Nate, I have yet to plumb my brakes.  Mike, I replaced the stock MC in my 46 on my back in the driveway and using the access plate in the floorboard.  So, its do-able.

Yep, mine is all done. I didn't have to take anything apart. A lift is a very useful tool! Wink The only real major problem I had was getting the top two bolts in. I had to drill a hole up through the front bolt hole for the clutch/brake bearing. I could only get that one and it keeps it solid. Cutting the old MC bracket off was a pain too. I'll get a pic of my completed install.

The Banjo bolts really made it easier to install. I highly recommend them! As you can see in the pics, my bellhousing is really close to the rear MC port.

Measure the distance between the frame rail and engine/tranny. I can measure how far mine sticks out from the frame.

I'm in the process of installing Herms kit I did opt for the smaller dual mast. cylCardone ford unit)I'm putting discs up front fed by the larger well in the Mast. cyl. Drums on the rear. My question is do I need a proportioning valve in this set-up?A friend gave me one out of one of his CJ5s but its got lines coming out of it than an Octopus. Any thoughts? Thanks Sandusky
