I mean I saw it on ebay. I'm not selling or affiliated, thought somebody might be interested.

Thanks for posting!.... New/NOS/Surplus, it’s an unused head that the seller is taking the time to remove all doubt about its serviceability and offered at a fair price. We have all seen these heads used in take off condition north of $100, that will most likely require resurfacing adding to the cost. So an unused head -.010 for a cleanup cut IMO does not make it “Modified”.

Thanks for clarifying that Lee...I kept looking and could NOT figure out what I was missing that made it something that wasn't described accurately.
I know I'm not up on my military stuff but that looked pretty good to me.....couldn't figure out the comment. |

I feel like I see enough "ghosting" around the thermostat housing/one of the water jackets/one cylinder dish to think that the one pictured may have been mounted and run before... just sayin'-

I agree, it’s eBay 😂. If the seller indeed has “Unused” heads and is selling them resurfaced and ready to go all I’m saying is that’s not a bad deal, if they are used and resurfaced it may not be a deal, and if they are used then they are not giving an honest description. Lee |

Sorry I commented. I guess coming from the world of firearms collecting I get a little critical of the use of the word NEW. Especially when you can clearly see the head has been mounted and has been machined in an attempt to clean the surface of coolant/rust damage both at the Thermostat mount and the center oval Water passage. Which leads me to wonder how much evidence of USE was removed with the resurfacing?

Agreed with Mark -- the head is not new. Since the seller is not accurate in the description you should also assume that "surfacing" means cleaning with a sander rather than proper surfacing by a machine shop.
Any buyer should plan $ to have a machine shop surface the head.

I am with Lee that casting aside the description, IF the head has been properly cleaned and magna-fluxed and surfaced, that may be a reasonable price to pay for a useable head, and a F-Script head for those looking for one.
My guess is that it may cost upwards of $100 smackers, or more, for cleaning, magging and surfacing. And more surfacing here than just the deck surface too. Depending on the amount removed from the deck surface, the engine may gain a nice compression Boost-to-Boot !! |
