Maybe, but IMHO that "crane" looks a little anemic for that weight to me. Note my user name.

Not to mention those poor rear springs LOL

What Mark said. I have a few old wheels that are no longer fit for road use.

This is one use I put them to. Another use is to weld them 90* from each other & use them as stout jack stands. I have used one of these jack stands for this exact use, getting a log up high enough to place a roller log or three underneath it. It works well.

You can do the same effective mechanical advantage with a large Tire or even a piece of 4X4 post placed between what you need to lift and the jeep Like so...

We used to use this method to pull fence post out at the ends of the Pole bean fields some times 100 posts in a day. We used a chain choker on the bottom of the post with 3 wraps and then ran the chain over an old truck wheel that we would push as close to the base of the post as possible so the horizontal movement of the chain converted to vertical movement and pulled the Post straight up instead of to the side. WHICH WAS MUCH HARDER to do.

Gonna send this to you in a PM so you see it for sure.

No Photo BUT today I had to remove the Harmonic Balancer bolt from my 98 Dakota 3.9L V6 on the way to fixing a water leak at the timing cover (yes I know what idiot thought running water through a timing cover was a good idea?) Anyway While I do have a Compressor in the shop its not been run in quite some time and is a PITA to rig up hoses and such.

And there right beside the pickup is CHUG With his "What would you ever need that for?" 145PSI Air system with its two little 1 gallon tanks.

I run my line lift the hood plug it in turn the key to Acc and pull the OBA switch on the Dash within a couple min I have 145psi of air to power my total POS 15+ year old Harbor Freight Impact wrench. And after about 6 refills of the tanks and maybe 10 min OFF comes the Bolt!!!!! YEA

I had already gotten the 1/2" 1950's era Craftsman Breaker bar out along with its handy 3ft assistance pipe and NO need..

Now if the rest of this crap will go as easy.

Beyond serving as my one and only daily driver the 1953 was put into tree cutting service the other day. At the time it had about 200 miles on it since rebuilt. It just got its initial oil change yesterday at 400 miles.

Another firewood working post with a little twist.

My son mentioned a couple weeks ago that a red oak had fallen across one of trails on his property,  and might be decent firewood. Today I went to check it out,  and was surprised how large it was.  (the trunk is visible above passenger side of Jeep)

I cut out a few blocks,  but they were way too heavy to lift,  so I built a "ramp" out of smaller pieces.

I hope to get back tomorrow,  but will bring a bigger trailer, and a "real" ramp with me.  Wink

Picture 1 of 2
(Photo from a plow ad. Website didn't like my pics.)

In an average year -- if one ever existed -- we get about 110 inches of snow. The record is 201 inches. Both of the CJs have reinforced frames and are equipped with hydraulically operated plows. In moderately high torque -- low speed operations, I don't find the Hurricane offering any advantage (or disadvantage) over the Go Devil.

My Blue Dispatcher is sort of like Paul Bunyan's axe. It may not have a part that it left Toledo wearing. The drivetrain is pure CJ-3A. My Red 2-WD is better than average in snow, but the 4-WD helps a lot when operating in heavy snow. It works for a living as well.

Now I just need to make myself a gold and green Surrey for the summertime.

Did some hauling a couple of Saturdays ago my mom 82 decided to take on a room mate  (old friend they are thick as thieves)  so they needed to move into a two bedroom same apt complex. So rather then fight the canopy on my Dakota loading boxes I figured CHUG would do just fine as we were only moving her about 500 yds. And no big furniture so 4 loads later all done.

Thanks! I was raised in N.Ga. and had never heard of them. Did a Google search and found out a bit more about them. Sounds good. But Mommy never told me about them.

Everyone around here just calls them a roaster ( the neighbor gave us the seed). I think the commercial name is North Georgia Candy Roaster, or just candy roaster. Its a little like a pumpkin and a butternut. Makes a really good pumpkin pie.
