Wow it was a go go kind of day on Monday for me, I painted the body and with the help of my son, son-in-law, and friend of my son from down the street we set the tub back on the frame and then I continued to assemble with lots of the small parts like gauges grommets footman loops until I realized what time it was and that I had to go to work the next day.
lets go for a rip eh bud

Wow! Looks great. That’s a big day.
How long did you let the paint set before putting the tub back on the frame?

Shadow--looks great.

How did you handle prepping and painting behind the instrument panel and up underneath the cowl?

I painted first thing in the morning and we set the tub on about 5:00 , I checked the paint through the day and with gloves on and away we went and with that many people it made it easy

On my back with a sander, scotch pads and elbow grease, that was also the hardest part to paint

Andy (and everybody): Are you sure that's the correct location for the horn?

I bought a horn like yours last weekend at the Spring Willys Reunion, perfect condition. I'm unclear as to whether the horn mounts on the driver's side cowl (as you've mounted yours) or on the driver's side inner fender.

I saw jeeps at the reunion with horns in both locations. Can anyone confirm what the factory location should be for a 1947 2A?

Hi Andy,

That's looking great! Well done for your hard work. I can't be that far behind you. I just have to get my tub back from the painters and I'll be going through exactly what you are now doing - final assembly! Big smile

LuzonRed47, according to Seans Parts List database:
Up to serial number #13908 used the Sparks Withington or Schwarze Electric horn, firewall mount.
The Electric Autolite horn was used between #13908 and #191720. It started off as a firewall mount up to #51228, but was moved to the splash apron (fender) from #51228 up to #191720. This is based on the second edition 1947, which is contradicted by the first edition 1945. Confused

However the contradictions are between #13908 and #51228, and so don't change the result for your serial number. Based on your #140275 it looks like the fender mount would be correct.

Mike, thanks! I did subsequently find the original Horn String in the 2APage archive, extremely helpful. And yes, inner fender mount for my #140275.

2APage information is unsurpassed, thanks to 2APage members!
