Been a long time coming, but here are my new jeep sneakers.
They are the narrow super swampers TSLs in 34/9-16LT. Been dreaming of these for a long time. Had to find the right wheel to put them on, tho. These are original KH 16x4.5 wheels. Didn't know if the narrow SS TSLs would fit these narrow wheels, but thanks to a conversation with TinBadge about his same tires and wheels (although I think his are 32x9.5 x16), I went for it and am very happy. Thanks Tin Badge! Still love the look of your jeep! Here's some comparison to my old 33 x 12.50 x 15. Kind of an optical illusion, but the TSLs are actually 1.75" taller than the 33" here. I'll post a YouTube link with my new shoes in action later. |

Much better . IMO those are the ultimate skinny tire. The absolute maximum size you can go before you have to cut the tub. Can't wait to see them in person.

Awesome! That's the exact setup I want to run on mine. I found a pair of 16x5 rims off a pickup. Still need 3 more.
Where did you get the tires and how much?

rick, I watched your video. Those tires look great. How much air did you have on those climbs? Tires looked a little hard. Drop those babies down to about 10 psi and watch how they grip onto those rocks.
Se ya soon.

Looks great. Like your JEEP. I run 33 x 9.50 x 15 BFG Mud Terrains on my cj5. The old design. I still like them. Not crazy about the new BFGs. The whole modern sidewall design thing isn't for me. I'd like to go with 10.50s on the cj5 but, I think the 9-9.50 fits better/looks better on a flattie.
Can't wait to see the video.

Here's the video. Stan, I was running 10 psi in three tires and 8 psi in the other one. These tires are so stout that they don't bulge when aired down.

I agree Jeff, these are the ultimate skinny tire. And yes, any larger and you would have to cut
the tub. They rub and scrub a little but
so did my 33s. I have 11" clearance
on my front diff and 10" on my rear diff.
I have 16" to my tc crossmember and a full 20" to the bottom
of my frame rail.
Lee, Yes, I went tubeless. This is a concern that isn't totally field proven yet. Since these are tube-type wheels, I don't know how hard I can wheel them in tubeless tires and not pop beads. I didn't have any trouble yet, but time will tell. If I do start popping beads, I'll just weld some safety humps in the wheels. Minnow, availability of these tires was a PROBLEM! All the major internet sources have them listed and say "in stock", but they don't. I called ALL of them and they didn't have any; said they just order from the factory. I called the factory in Louisiana and they said they had 2. AND, there was no production date scheduled for any more.Stern Smile I found several vendors on Amazon and finally found some at National Tire and Wheel. I called them to confirm and they had 8 in stock. I bought 5 of them. National Tire and Wheel was a little higher priced than the rest of the internet world, but I guess you can advertise them at rock bottom prices if you don't have any and aren't going to get any. I paid $245 each with free shipping. Wheelie, I don't like the sidewall looks much either. I turned what is supposed to be the outside, in. I think it looks more period correct than all the modern font and flare of the sidewall that is on it now. Roc, these won't see much pavement action. Just a ride here and there to get a coke or snowcone, maybe a trip to pickup groceries. I will say they ride MUCH better than my 33x12.5's ever did! It is sooo smooth now, no death wobble either. It's almost like having power steering |

Yeah, Muley, I like the new toy hauler. I'm still working on it, but it's functional.

The video was great, thanks for the post. I run the 32x9.50x15 swampers, how is your turning circle?

turning radius is a little better than with the 33x12.5's. I haven't actually measured it tho. That's in 2wd, in 4WD it doesn't turn

Cool video and thanks for sharing. Hope you don't mind me saying, but your suspension is scaring me a little. Are you're shocks limiting your travel maybe? I bet if you had more flexibility, the jeep would be unstoppable! .... still need a name too

I've always known my suspension is way too stiff. The shocks aren't limiting my travel, it's the springs. Each leaf is 1/4" thick and almost unbendable by the little lightweight Willys. I spent some time at 74 year old blacksmith, leaf spring maker this week for this issue. I figured I better not hit the Rubicon with 2 half leaf spring wedges.
So I installed 2 new ones Anyway, I took him my spring and asked him what could be done. He said he would start by removing the 2nd spring followed by the 4th spring and then maybe the last one. He said those leafs are way to thick for my Jeep. So when I return, I'm going to pull some leafs and see how much it helps. But, if I get all that flex by removing leafs, then I won't get any good undercarriage shots. It will just be another one of those rigs that make everything look so easy, ho hum And, yes, Jeff, I have a name in mind. I'll reveal on the trail
