    Posted: 23 June 2009 at 11:59am
I was contacted overnight for information on a Bantam T3-C and he says he can make out Hiawatha on the tailgate so I've requested pictures.

I've heard stories about Sears selling a Bantam trailer rebadged as the Hiawatha and hope to confirm this myth with pictures. I'll post more after I hear back from him.

In the mean time does anyone have any old Sear catalogs or literature that may show pictures of this rare jewel?

I contacted Sears, a few years back, asking about it and was given no info.  I was told to contact any library that received copies of the old Sears catalogs.   I'll get around to that someday.

Good luck.

I could be wrong (I was wrong once before, but that was when I thought I was wrong, and it turned out I wasn'tWink), but I think the "Hiawatha" name was used by Gambles Stores. My best friend had a "Hiawatha" bicycle, and I had a "Hawthorne" (Montgomery Wards).   BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

http://bantamt3c.com/images/hubbard/Pages/Bantam.html Go to part 4...

Reportedly, the civilian model BT3-C was offered for sale to the public in the late 1940's through such outlets as Sears and Roebuck (marketed as the "Hiawatha"). American Bantam was the only builder to convert the 1/4-ton military trailer design for use in a civilian market, probably done in an effort to maintain a large quantity production to keep the company going.

Art,

I have a Ben-Hur trailer made for the jeep that was built in 46. Bought it from the original owners son who was selling it on his used car lot as his father was in his 80's and could use it anymore. His dad bought it brand new with his 46 2A in Waukesha, WI. Here's a pic.jeep

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife.

Finally got some pictures of the Hiawatha Trailer and did a write up on the http://bantamt3c.com page.

Scroll to the bottom of the dataplates and click the Hiawatha link.
