There are three that I know of. I have two, but am missing the one I believe I need. I'll start with that one. This is the 0-60 mph unit that I believe was used in the earlier 2A's.
The part # is the same in both the '45 Parts list and the '49 parts list.
GROUP 16--04 SPEEDOMETER
SPEEDOMETER assembly.............PART No. 640131
The book lists an autolite speedometer and a King Seely speedometer. Both have the same part #'s. I don't know which one is which.
A little help here on the correct manufacture would be great.
This first pic is from Jeep # 10658 ( compliments of Louie Larson)
These two both go up to 70 mph, one goes past, notice the different rates the guage goes up between these two and the difference in the needle coloring.
My #21 has the 70 mph plus one, both Louie's and Jim Rorah's (#87) have the 60 mph.
You would think with the CJ2A axle gear ratio's being 5.38 that anything up to 60 mph would be plenty of guage as doing 55mph is not happening with our little friend.

From our prior discussion, I think Autolites had black & white needles, K-S had all white needles. Speedometer Manufacturers Edited by sean - 18 Dec. 2006 at 9:08pm |

Here's a photo of my Speedo, 1945 CJ-2A #11802 for your reference.
I need to have it fixed, as it doesn't work at all now. I think the spring is sprung! Jerry |

it's about to get DEEPER, once i get around to getting a pic taken...we just brought home a 2 owner '47, and it is confirmed the instruments ARE original to the jeep, and the speedo is a 60 MPH, but it has the mileage at the top, and a rotating set of numbers down low also, i saw a 6 digit number inside near the top, starting with 4XX,XXX, i will try to also get the rest of that....low

My #81986 has the K.S. all white pointer with the 70 mile limit. The milage (55,739) is on the bottom between the numbers. HC
