Great work Seth. I'm impressed you only lost 3/4" ground clearance. I would have guessed twice that!

Thanks guys! Yeah I shoved it north as far as possible to keep it tucked up...
Jay, the speedo cable reached but barely... I will see how it operates.. I may bind since there isnt much slack in the bends... not sure how/where to get a longer one?

Falcon, when it comes to well-reasoned and expertly executed Willys modifications, you rank alongside the famous "Chug-a-Lug" Mark and Jpet as two of my 2Apage.com heroes. Thanks for sharing.

Seth,
I finally spoke with Aaron at MoserEngineering today, and he said to send him my input shaft ! I am STOKED !! Here is the deal: Ever since my First trip through the Rubicon and meeting the Old-Geezer with the cherry glossy-black flat-fender with 350-chev and Granny-gear trans, I have longed for a T-18 in a Flattie. Remembering back, I fully restored a '46 and ran it in and back out of the Rubicon Springs for 2-summers. I did have my '77 CJ-7 at the time. Boom, along came my son and I had to sell one or the other to pay the birthing expenses, so the '46 got sold, and I put a T-18 into my '77 renegade with the 304 engine w/ bellhousing that accepts Ford trans. So, for the last 34-years or so, I have been wanting to put a T-18 into a early Willys. Bingo, I purchased my second a year ago, and got right on purchasing T-18 to put into it. And, it is a scout too. The shaft is long enough that Aaron at Moser says he can work it down, and I must send him my stock L134 Shaft from the T-90 for diameter and length. This conversion of yours has been a Terrific Inspiration, and has motivated me to "get-on-the-stick" !! hahahaha Len |

The jeep is done... Here is a video and a few pictures of stuff i haven't posted yet...
Front driveshaft, lengthened and rebuilt with new u-joints. Clutch Rod and clevis... I extended it about 1.5" That is a section of t18 shifter lever I re-purposed. Drilled and threaded on the lathe. 5/16-24. New seatbelts... Before I had the cage I would prefer to be ejected... haha! Not so much anymore. Retro airplane style belts from summit. $24 each. And here is what I (and maybe you) Have been waiting for....... |

Nice!
I like to walk beside my T-18 equipped jeep while doing landscaping work because it’s easier to turn the key on and off than it is to get in and out of the tub. Yes, reverse is low- pack a lunch for backing up!

Seth ! you scamper !
Long past are my days of puttin-in 8 hrs at work, and then working feverishly all evening in my shop I had at the time doing 4x conversion vans & pickups. ( I miss it, but just don't have the gumption anymore at age 67 ). So, I have finally found a Local-Machinist that I think I can work with. Go Figure ! And, when I had about given up. Just yesterday, I took the L134 bellhousing in to him and he quoted around $50.00 to bore out the retainer hole to the t-18 retainer diameter to 4-3/4 inch diameter. The retainer on my Ford T-98 measures a whopping 5-1/8 inch diameter. I will explain what I have discovered about my Ford bellhousing on my persona thread so I don't clutter this up any further. Hey, doggonit, when you mentioned earlier in your thread "is it ok if i get turned-on by this" ? _ _ yes, it is OK, we all need something to stir-up-the-juices and get our adrenaline boosted. hahahaha One thing i want to mention since i like writing Dissertations, and snicker, i like Ken's dissert's too. :) I have been PONDERING how i can modify a T-18 bearing retainer to have the snout of the T-90 retainer, which the throw-out bearing rides on. I didn't look at all of your photos until today, and noticed that you turned down the throw-out holder to move-back the throw-out to compensate for the increased amount the your Retainer-Adapter moved forward. Aha ! Voila ! All of the little thingies that take hours of thought and more hours to make the modifications to, to make everything work together. right So, soon, i am off to the machinist @ $95.00 per hour of his time. Yikes. Later Alligator ! _ _ _ my pocket-book is about to get Lightened. Len |
