With some forethought you don't really need "better" brakes in the mountains. On the trails especially you can (and SHOULD) downshift. So you don't use your brakes to keep your speed down, just for when you want to actually come to a stop. And it doesn't take great brakes to do that, even on a steep hill. If you're driving on mountain highways it's much the same, but it's often tempting (and sometime almost necessary) to drive faster to keep up with traffic. But if you use the gearing to keep the speed in check you won't be overheating brakes, and then (good) stock brakes will generally be fine. Bigger drums and especially disks will tolerate more heat than small drums. But heat will kill any brakes quickly if you're not careful, and any adequate brakes will still be adequate in the mountains if you are careful enough to keep them cool.

Got my 47cj2a named patches out between rain squalls and took some pictures, unfortunatly my home computer doesn't recognize my smart phone or I'm not smart enough to get it to find and open the files. My question is are smart phones able to post directly to this forum,I can view posts ,I just cant loggin to my account on my phone,I think the problem lays in my user name ,cheddar head`s 47 has a back leaning apostrophe between the d and s on heads,my cell phone only has a straight up apostrophe, would this be enough to cause a invalid user entry. I really want to get this sorted as to be able to post pictures.

May of made some progress moving pictures, so this first photo would be the mod PO made to the clutch pedal, its double wide. I'm guessing this was for snow plowing and big winter boots? The next picture is of data plate under hood. Picture of tool box under passenger seat.

That X-fer case isn't a 300; the T-98 would have come behind an F-head most likely. You would need an adapter plate to mate it to the Hurricane bell housing.

Thanks for the info ,the tag on the tc said 300 so I assumed it was a 300,Im really green at all of this. Was reading the millenium falcon post on putting a 4 spd behing his diesel and the journey involved with getting the shaft recut and that is what keyed my interest in what was laying in my parts jeep.I got a extra L134 block and bell housing ,seems like once my freinds found out I bought a old willys ,they keep finding me bits and pieces.Bought a f head for $50.00,thought it was worth that for the stater and generater. My L134 was missing the oil bath air cleaner, the f head motor has that,we are having a holiday shut down so Ill be able to get some time to clean some of this stuff up .I work a 12hr shift, nothing left in the ambition tank after work so ,so my off days are for projects.Ill be finishing up a rust repair job on a chev truck, then I can start to look into what is what with patches.

Stripping my parts jeep down ,I got the frame down to the point of no motor mounts ,no body mounts ,no shock mounts ,the rear bumber is a beefier not stock version but I think Ill go with it.Everything else I cut off ,its a cj5 frame ,its more solid than my cj2a frame, plus the front frame horns are intact,my goal is to use this frame under my cj2a.My reasoning behind cutting everything off was that the lenghts are diferrent, figure I could put them back on where they should be.,Im putting the t98a transmission in so that placement and the overall fit will be determined later. Here are some pictures of 2 days of getting cleaned up , the frame went to the sand blaster and I put it into weldable primer after I got it back

The jeeps in January meet and greet was alot of fun and I got to meet alot of way more knowegable folks than I .I was told my parts jeep rear end was a dana 44 ,the off set was desireable ,width was good which was to me great news .I took it over to my mechanic friend and we popped it open to see how the gear set was .the spider gears are chewed up but the ring gear looked good. The brakes are froze so we couldnt rotate it to see the gear set number so I dont know if Ill have buy gears yet ,I want to match the 538 set that is in my dana 25 front axle .I hoping to but a ox locker in here so I guess Ill be buying axles for the spline count to match that locker .I got the rearend to my sand blaster ,20 minutes later and $30.00 dollars and its now in selfetching primer.Ill post picture, also we peeked into the t98 transmission ,it looks good ,Ill post that picture. If anybody see s a red flag or a flaw in my thinking process let me know.
